Week 48 Review: Horde

From Goodreads:
The horde is coming.

Salvation is surrounded, monsters at the gates, and this time, they're not going away. When Deuce, Fade, Stalker and Tegan set out, the odds are against them. But the odds have been stacked against Deuce from the moment she was born. She might not be a Huntress anymore, but she doesn't run. With her knives in hand and her companions at her side, she will not falter, whether fighting for her life or Fade's love.

Ahead, the battle of a lifetime awaits. Freaks are everywhere, attacking settlements, setting up scouts, perimeters, and patrols. There hasn't been a war like this in centuries, and humans have forgotten how to stand and fight. Unless Deuce can lead them.

This time, however, more than the fate of a single enclave or outpost hangs in the balance. This time, Deuce carries the banner for the survival of all humanity.

My Review:
Wow, I enjoyed this book so much! So good to read this book, it was a great ending to the series, it ended it just a great place, and yeah, I really enjoyed the journey to get there! And I know I'll have to reread this series, because I haven't read all the short stories with it yet!

So this one picks up pretty quickly after where Outpost ended, and yeah, this book is mostly action, with lots of discoveries, battles, reunions, and yeah, some characters deaths that we didn't want, but happened anyways!

Deuce has been growing in this series, she's more than the Huntress that she was in Enclave, and that's a good thing, she's seen more of the world, and now she's ready to really take it on, head on. And yeah, what a battle!

That ending! We get so many answers to questions that it seems that we've had forever, and yeah, that was really satisfying to get that, I just loved that so much! And then add in the action, and it was a perfect ending!

I really enjoyed this book so much, this was such a great trilogy, and I recommend it to any YA dystopia fans!

Week 48 Reviews: Shadow Kiss, Blood Promise, Spirit Bound, Last Sacrifice, Homecoming

From Goodreads:
It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't been feeling quite right. She's having dark thoughts, behaving erratically, and worst of all... might be seeing ghosts.

As Rose questions her sanity, new complications arise. Lissa has begun experimenting with her magic once more, their enemy Victor Dashkov might be set free, and Rose's forbidden relationship with Dimitri is starting to heat up again. But when a deadly threat no one saw coming changes their entire world, Rose must put her own life on the line - and choose between the two people she loves most.

From Goodreads:
Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters ... Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

From Goodreads:

Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong...

After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri's birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's-and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives beyond the Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he's out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and now he is hunting her. And this time he won't rest until Rose joins him... forever.

From Goodreads:

They come first.

My vision was growing dimmer, the blackness and ghosts closing in. I swore it was like I could hear Robert whispering in my ear: The world of the dead won't give you up a second time. Just before the light completely vanished, I saw Dimitri's face join Lissa's. I wanted to smile. I decided then that if the two people I loved most were safe, I could leave this world.

The dead could finally have me.

Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules. She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir's Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardians to come.

Now the law has finally caught up with Rose - for a crime she didn't even commit. She's in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She'll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.

But the clock on Rose's life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back...and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your whole life is about saving others, who will save you?

From Goodreads:
Homecoming is about Rose and Dimitri, the couple from Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy series. They are going back to Russia to see Dimitir's family, something that both of them sorely need. Dimitri had finally been restored into a dhampir, after being forcibly changed into strigoi. his family needs to see him for themselves, and Rose needs to go back to Russia and face her trauma from the trip she made before.

My Review:
Oh, it was just fantastic to read all these books! Reading all of the series from 3 to end, is just spectacular, and then it opens me up for rereading the Bloodlines spin off seires, and The Fiery Heart! I just can't wait!

All of these characters, they have a lot of bad things happening to them, and plots are schemed, by the good guys and the bad guys, and they learn more about Spirit, and it's users, and yeah, some of it's good, some is bad, and yeah, it's just so good!

I really enjoyed Adrian, because we know that he's going to be with Sydney, but he's still hung up on Rose in this series, and yeah, he did grow in these books, and it was just great to see the start of that, knowing how it's going to continue!

And then there's the politics! And because of the politics, family matters, and that Jailbait (I'm blanking on all but Adrian's nickname for her, maybe Jill?) being Lissa's half sister, knowing that her dad had an affair, that wasn't fun for Lisssa to learn, but it's helpful in running for Queen!

Yeah, this was just so good to read this series again, and I can't wait to be in this world some more!

Week 48 Review: Six Months Later

From Goodreads:
She has everything she's ever wanted. But not her memory...

When Chloe fell asleep in study hall, it was the middle of May. When she wakes up, snow is on the ground and she can't remember the last six months of her life.

Before, she'd been a mediocre student. Now, she's on track for valedictorian and being recruited by Ivy League schools. Before, she never had a chance with super jock Blake. Now he's her boyfriend. Before, she and Maggie were inseparable. Now her best friend won't speak to her.

What happened to her? Remembering the truth could be more dangerous than she knows...

My Review:
I enjoyed this book so much! Such an awesome mystery, because missing 6 months of your life? Just not remembering, and then having some pretty huge changes in her life-her grades, her new found popularity and some results of that-her best friend, and Blake.

I really enjoyed Chloe, she deals with this situation pretty calmly, considering everything that was going on! And yeah, then there's her investigation into what happened, pretty much boiling it down to a summer study group. Which makes me so glad that I'm not in HS anymore!

Another reason for admiration for Chloe? Her mom, who has some issues to deal with, Chloe is there, and has to deal with them, as well, because it's her mom, and yeah, that wasn't a good situation, but Chloe made the best of it!

Then there was the romance, which was just awesome, I really enjoyed it, it was a bit of a trope, but tropes are tropes for a reason, because they happen, and because people like them, so yeah, really enjoyed that!

This was a really great book, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I can't wait to read more Natalie D. Richards books!

Week 48 Review: Horizon

From Goodreads:
Fate has bound them together—and torn them apart.  Now Daire and Dace face one final fight that will seal their destiny forever.

Daire Santos is the last of the Soul Seekers, and the only thing standing between the Richters and the destruction of everyone she loves. With her grandmother gone and Cade back in Enchantment, Daire must finally step into her destiny and lead the fight against the Richters. But what if that means sacrificing the person she loves most?

Bound to the Richters by blood, Dace struggles against the darkness growing inside him that threatens to claim Daire too. Though Daire refuses to give up on him, the choice may not be hers. An epic battle is on the horizon and the end of the world looms near. With such insurmountable odds stacked against them, is their love really enough to conquer all?

My Review:
I enjoyed this book so much! It was so action packed, and yeah, it is the ending of the series, but yeah, so much happens in it, that we're almost not sad that we have to say goodbye to the characters! And yeah, with that ending, so good!

So yeah, we're at the final showdown, and things are happening, things are learned, and the final battle is pretty much here. And yeah, it was pretty tension-filled; what do you expect, when the leaders of this particular brand of evil are up to their biggest plan yet?

One thing that's been in this series, is the mystical stuff, and yeah, it's been interesting to learn about how it is in this world and yeah, all the world-building, it's stuff that we want to know, and yeah, just because it's the end, doesn't mean we don't learn new things!

That ending! It's almost not-they won, there were no more Richters, they thought. And then they find out that she's pregnant with one. And yeah, it's almost like, we better get ready for the next generation, because it's a Richter that hasn't had what happened to Cade and Dace!

Really enjoyed this book, and yeah, I can't wait to read more Alyson Noel  books!

Week 48 Review: Truth or Dare

From Goodreads:
When a simple round of truth or dare spins out of control, three girls find it’s no longer a party game. It’s do or die.

It all started on a whim: the game was a way for Tenley Reed to reclaim her popularity, a chance for perfect Caitlin “Angel” Thomas to prove she’s more than her Harvard application. Loner Sydney Morgan wasn’t even there; she was hiding behind her camera like usual. But when all three start receiving mysterious dares long after the party has ended, they’re forced to play along—or risk exposing their darkest secrets.

How far will Tenley, Caitlin and Sydney go to keep the truth from surfacing? And who’s behind this twisted game?

Set against the backdrop of Echo Bay, an isolated beach town haunted by misfortune, Truth or Dare is a highly charged debut that will keep readers in suspense from beginning to end.

My Review:
I enjoyed this book so much! It was interesting, and intriguing, and yeah, the end was a bit predictable seeing as it's the first of the series, yeah, it was just really enjoyable! I know I'm going to want to read more!

So this is more in the vein of Pretty Little Liars for me (the show, not the books, seeing as I've only read 1 book in the series thus far) where the threat of releasing their secrets hanging over the heads of the girls, and yeah, it's just so interesting!

Echo Bay was almost the scariest thing in the novel. There's the Lost Girls Curse around the Fall Festival where girls die in the bay, it's a small town where secrets are hard to hide, where the people judge you, and like it says, it's isolated. All the makings of a really creepy setting!

And yeah, with that isolation, that meant that there was a limited number of people who could be forcing the girls into the twisted game, and yeah, those with minds that can put the clues together faster then me, could've figured out who the bad guy was. But yeah, I was too absorbed in the book!

I really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to read more!

Week 48 Review: Teardrop

From Goodreads:
Never, ever cry... Seventeen-year-old Eureka won't let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother's death and Ander's appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don't make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?

My Review:
Ah, I enjoyed this book so much! I mean, it's the first book of Lauren Kate's that I've read the first book in the series before, and a stand alone, so it's not a new experience, but it's one that got dusted off, and yeah, it was just a really interesting book!

So first off, the idea behind it, the transferring of tears, and the magic, and Atlantis stuff, that was just so interesting, that half the reason that I wanted to read this book, the other half, of course, being that I love Lauren Kate's writing, so I had to read it!

I felt bad for Eureka and Ander, because they are in a pretty tough situation, and being pushed and pulled by outside sources, including his group, and her dad, and then when you add in her step-mom, yeah, she wasn't nice, but she was a mom to her kids-just that Eureka wasn't her's.

The ending? They shouldn't have cornered her. That just caused what they were trying to prevent, so yeah, that was an epic fail in planning! And then her friend being possessed by whatever that was, yeah, all the more incentive to read the next book, because I want to read it so badly!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I can't wait for Waterfall, it's going to be awesome!

Week 48 Review: Rogue

From Goodreads:
Okay, so cats don't always land on their feet.

I know that better than most. Since rejoining the Pride, I've made big decisions and even bigger mistakes: the kind paid for with innocent lives. As the first and only female enforcer, I have plenty to prove to my father, the Pride, and myself. And with murdered toms turning up in our territory, I'm working harder than ever, though I always find the energy for a little after-hours recreation with Marc, my partner both on- and off-duty.

But not all of my mistakes are behind me. We're beginning to suspect that the dead are connected to a rash of missing human women and that they can all be laid at my feet--two or four, take your pick. And one horrible indiscretion may yet cost me more than I can bear...

My first review of Rogue
My Review:
This book was just awesome! I had a pretty good idea of what happened in this book, like the fact that she turned her ex-boyfriend into a shifter, and that the events of this book led to the trial in the next one, but I had forgotten when she had done that, the biting of the boyfriend.

So yeah, this book was just an action packed, awesome book! We get to see Faythe really settle back into her life, where as the previous one was introductory, this one gave us some more deeper details about their life and how things work!

I really enjoyed the case, and how they worked it, and all the clues that came in, and yeah, I know the events in this book are really going to play out in some not so good ways, but yeah, we're not at the point of the consequences yet, so we can just enjoy this sometimes good stuff while it lasts (by good, I mean the good stuff for Faythe, not that parts in the book aren't as good!)

Really good ending, explosive, exactly what we needed, and getting us headed in the direction of the next book, and yeah, while it was sad about her ex, well, sometimes bad things happen because of the actions of the good guys, and there's really nothing you can do about it!

Really enjoyed rereading this book, and I can't wait to reread more!

Week 48 Review: Foreplay

From Goodreads:
Before she goes after the life she’s always wanted, she’s about to find the one she needs.

Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her best friend’s brother, Hunter, for like ever. He’s the key to everything she’s always craved: security, stability, family. But she needs Hunter to notice her as more than just a friend. Even though she’s kissed exactly one guy, she has just the plan to go from novice to rock star in the bedroom—take a few pointers from someone who knows what he’s doing.

Her college roommates have the perfect teacher in mind. But bartender Reece is nothing like the player Pepper expects. Yes, he’s beyond gorgeous, but he’s also dangerous, deep—with a troubled past. Soon what started as lessons in attraction are turning both their worlds around, and showing just what can happen when you go past foreplay and get to what’s real…

My Review:
Oh, this was a fantastic book! So hilarious, all the situations that she gets into, it was just so much fun to read this book! I mean, she means to have the help on this one guy, thinks the one she's talking to is him, when it turns out she was looking for the guy she ended up with's brother!

So I've read her YA series, Firelight, and yeah, it was just great to read this book, a NA contemporary, which is different, and yeah, I really enjoyed this book so much, it was just so entertaining!

I really enjoyed her relationship with Reece, it doesn't start on quite a good note, but it works it's way there, as they awkwardly move to a position that he starts teaching her in foreplay, for experience for when she finally gets Hunter to notice as a potential girlfriend/wife!

I also enjoyed her relationships with her room mates, Emerson and Georgia, because they were pretty tight, and they had a good friendship, and yeah, I just really enjoyed reading about them, and I'm so glad that we're going to get their stories in subsequent novels!

This was a fantastic book, loved it so much, and I can't wait to read more!

Week 48 Review: Riptide

From Goodreads:
Grace has one summer to prove she’s good enough

For Grace Parker, surfing is all about the ride and the moment. Everything else disappears. She can forget that her best friend, Ford Watson, has a crush on her that she can’t reciprocate. She can forget how badly she wants to get a surf scholarship to UC San Diego. She can forget the pressure of her parents’ impossibly high expectations.

When Ford enters Grace into a surf competition—the only way she can impress the UCSD surfing scouts—she has one summer to train and prepare. Will she gain everything she’s ever wanted or lose the only things that ever mattered?

My Review:
So one thing about this book that you don't get from the synopsis? That it's from Grace and Ford's POV. Which is a mixed bag for me, I mean, we want to know what he's thinking, but it was really hard to tell the difference between the 2 of them!

To be honest, Grace grated on me. She wasn't a particularity nice person, she was driven, which combined doesn't mean that she's a good person or not, it just means that I didn't really want to have her as the main character, or the love interest of the main character. I just didn't want to read about her!

I don't know anything about surfing beyond the few surfing books that I've read, and those have been few. So I don't know how accurate the information is, but the surfing scenes were pretty entertaining! I kinda wish the focus was a bit different, though!

Good ending, but again, more issues for me, because it's a YA with a dual romance. Of course that's going to mean issues with them getting together, but there was a lot of drama there that just didn't have to happen. So that ending was deserved!

Enjoyed this book, but it's not the best book I've read!
