Week 31 Review: Vanishing Girls

From Goodreads:
New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver delivers a gripping story perfect for fans of We Were Liars and I Was Here, about two sisters inexorably altered by a terrible accident.

Dara and Nick used to be inseparable, but that was before the accident that left Dara's beautiful face scarred and the two sisters totally estranged.

When Dara vanishes on her birthday, Nick thinks Dara is just playing around. But another girl, nine-year-old Madeline Snow, has vanished, too, and Nick becomes increasingly convinced that the two disappearances are linked. Now Nick has to find her sister, before it's too late.

In this edgy and compelling novel, Lauren Oliver creates a world of intrigue, loss, and suspicion as two sisters search to find themselves, and each other.

My Review:
This book was such a great read! I did kinda skip forward to the end, when I was about a 3rd of the way through and we hadn't gotten to Dara's birthday and disappearance. But that meant a lot of time before things started to really go wrong, and see how clever Lauren Oliver was, because the big twist, the gig, could've been up so easily if she hadn't written it so well!

At first, the main mysteries were what happened the night of the accident, and then what happened to Madeline Snow. But then Dara disappeared and the real investigation happened. Like, Nick went pretty deep in trying to find her sister!

I really enjoyed the way that this story was told. Between flashbacks of Nick, and diary entries of Dara, before the crash, and then the present day, switching between Nick and Dara, we really got a full breadth of characters and what was going on, and that was pretty great!

One thing in this book was the pictures that a guy was taking of teenage girls. Dude, not cool! There kept being mentions of it, from girls who were involved to the guys who collected the pictures. Oh, and the parties that the girls went to before hand. Yeah. This is a danger that girls face, though hopefully it's not too common!

This book was really fantastic, and I really enjoyed it!
