Week 4 Review: The Will and the Wilds

From Goodreads:
A spellbinding story of truce and trickery from the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Paper Magician series.

Enna knows to fear the mystings that roam the wildwood near her home. When one tries to kill her to obtain an enchanted stone, Enna takes a huge risk: fighting back with a mysting of her own.

Maekallus's help isn't free. His price? A kiss. One with the power to steal her soul. But their deal leaves Maekallus bound to the mortal realm, which begins eating him alive. Only Enna's kiss, given willingly, can save him from immediate destruction. It's a temporary salvation for Maekallus and a lingering doom for Enna. Part of her soul now burns bright inside Maekallus, making him feel for the first time.

Enna shares Maekallus's suffering, but her small sacrifice won't last long. If she and Maekallus can't break the spell binding him to the mortal realm, Maekallus will be consumed completely—and Enna's soul with him.

My Review:
This book was such a great read! I really enjoyed the world, it was really interesting, with the mysting and their world, the threat they pose to ours. I enjoyed reading about Enna and her journey, her relationship with Maekallus. It was all just so interesting!

So were were in both Enna and Maekallus's heads. So we knew that he wasn't on the up and up. but then again, he isn't human. Well, that's a point of contention, because the origins of his particular kind of mysting is a bit mysterious.

Each time Enna gave him a kiss, she gave him a piece of her soul so that he would survive here. And each time, she got a little weaker, a little bit less of herself. And at the same time, Maekallus is gaining some humanity, and it was an interesting balance!

This world is pretty darned interesting, we explored but a tiny portion of it. And what we did became pretty important to the plot. The epigraphs for each chapter were strange, and gave details that helped the plot along-and then it turns out that it's from the events of this book that they were drawn, because it was a book written by Enna about her experiences her. So that was a great realization!

I enjoyed this book so much, it was so enjoyable and great to read!
