Week 26 Review: Waterfell

From Goodreads:
THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE QUEEN

Nerissa Marin hides among teens in her human form, waiting for the day she can claim her birthright--the undersea kingdom stolen from her the day her father was murdered. Blending in is her best weapon--until her father's betrayer confronts Nerissa and challenges her to a battle to the death on Nerissa's upcoming birthday--the day she comes of age.

Amid danger and the heartbreak of her missing mother, falling for a human boy is the last thing Nerissa should do. But Lo Seavon breaches her defenses and somehow becomes the only person she can count on to help her desperate search for her mother, a prisoner of Nerissa's mortal enemy. Is Lo the linchpin that might win Nerissa back her crown? Or will this mortal boy become the weakness that destroys her?

My Review:
Loved this book! Loved the characters, loved the world, the back story, the conflicts, the romance, and the uniqueness! I mean, alien sea monsters? That's pretty cool! Though I have one question that I hope is answered in the sequel-what happened to their ship that brought them from their planet, to ours?

One of my favourite lines, was "We've moved from TV to Twilight. Awesome." The thoughts of Nerissa on the top of page 82 of 255 on my Nook. Such a great line, a bit of humour in a situation that's difficult, telling your best friend the truth after keeping a huge secret about yourself from them for so long. Yeah, loved that line!

Oh, Merissa and Lo. They were pretty epic together, and though they both kept secrets from each other, her about the fact that she's Aquarathi, him, that he's half Aquarathi, and was sent to get her to fall in love with him, though he falls for her, yeah. they had that conflict near the end!

Then there was the whole thing with her mom. In the beginning, she was told that her mom was dead. Then Merissa finds out that she's alive, via a start up to blackmail, pieces of her mom, which was gruesome. Oh, but then it turns out that her mom wasn't in love with her dad, but with the main antagonist, and was working with her the entire time! Yeah, that hurt!

All in all, such a great book, really loved reading it, and I can't wait to read more of this world!
