Review: Acheron

From Gookreads:
The most anticipated story in the blockbuster Dark-Hunter series. The never-before-revealed story of the Dark-Hunter leader, Acheron. He was made human in order to escape death, but in death he was reborn a god. . .

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. However, his human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Then, brought back against his will, Acheron became the sole defender of mankind.

Only it was never that simple. For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he’ll do anything to keep concealed. Until a lone woman who refuses to be intimidated by him threatens his very existence.

Now his survival, and ours, hinges on hers and old enemies reawaken and unite to kill them both.
War has never been more deadly... or more fun.

My Review:
Apparently, there's nothing more fun then reading this book. I just couldn't put it down! It's over seven hundred pages, I started reading. And reading. And reading. And I finished in in just under 1 day. It was my first book that I've read by Sherrilyn Kenyon, but I will say that it definitely will not be the last. It was the 15th in the series, yet I understood the world pretty well. I promptly requested the rest of the books from the library, and have slowly been building my collection of her books.

I love the dialogue, both audio, and inner commentary/thoughts, it was too funny. Probably the best was the Simi/song, and being an underwear model. And having read the whole book, Ash really hates objectifying himself like that. And who could blame him?

I love the plot, how the first half or so was his past, and the second half was the present day, it really let us readers into the God who was Acheron, his motivations, and the past really explained the present in a way that I've never read before.

I can honestly say that this is one of the books tying up for #1 favourite. The others are Heart of the Dragon, and Poison Study, and this was the 2nd one I read. I will be collecting this series, and this author, because she's now, because of this book, one of my favourites!!!

My only compliant with the book, is of course, like any good book, is that it ended. Yeah, I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys adult romance paranormal, it does have demons, and creatures that are similar to vampires, Damions, and were creatures (Humans turning into animals, and animals turning into humans) and such :)

Yep. So go read this book, and probably the other's first, and you'll see why I like it!

  1. Yeah another Kenyon fan!
This book was really lengthy though.
The backstory was at times to gruesome. It worked out in the end though.

  2. Yeah, and this book was what made me one :)

I know, but it went by so quickly, what he was going through was just so terrible, and sad, I had to get to his happy ending :)
