Week 41 Review: Trial by Fire

From Goodreads:
There can only be one alpha.

Bryn is finally settling into her position as alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack—or at least, her own version of what it means to be alpha when you're a human leading a band of werewolves. Then she finds a teenage boy bleeding on her front porch. Before collapsing, he tells her his name is Lucas, he's a Were, and Bryn’s protection is his only hope.

But Lucas isn't part of Bryn's pack, and she has no right to claim another alpha's Were.  With threats—old and new—looming, and danger closing in from all sides, Bryn will have to accept what her guardian Callum knew all along. To be alpha, she will have to give in to her own animal instincts and become less human. And, she's going to have to do it alone.

Bryn faces both the costs, and the rewards, of love and loyalty, in this thrilling sequel to Raised by Wolves.

My Review:
Oh, wow, such a wonderful, amazing book! Such a great sequel to Raised by Wolves, we get to see Bryn grow into being an Alpha, and the joys and pains that go along with it, from being in the twin's minds and running with the pack, to Lucas, and how he challenged her for pack leadership, and how she had to kill him. Yeah, there were ups and downs, and it was just such a rich book, I almost can't believe it!

I just loved these characters, how they grew, how they were real, about the power that some people have, like the bartender, and then how that developed, to be the main threat to the pack, even if it was just the face, and not the guiding hand behind it.

The scene where Lake plays pool against Shay, on whether their pack keeps Lucas, or if Shay gets Lucas and Lake, that was nerve wreaking, I don't know how Lake did it! Because that would've been among her nightmares, being in Shay's pack!

I loved how we got to learn more about Ali, her past, and then how it connects to the threat, that her mom is leading the coven of gifted individuals against their pack, on Shay's say so, Shay, with plans within plans, and yeah, he was just pure evil, and poor Devon, having Shay as a brother, even if Shay was long gone when Devon was born, just being related is bad enough!

I loved this book, it was really amazing, and I can't wait to read more!!
