Week 42 Review: Ten

From Goodreads:
SHHHH!
Don't spread the word!
Three-day weekend. House party.
White Rock House on Henry Island.
You do NOT want to miss it.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school's most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn't scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

My Review:
So this is the second book by Gretchen McNeil, and the second one that I've read. And it won't be the last! This book showed diversity from her previous book, Possess, which was a paranormal YA, while this one was a mystery YA. But the same dark-ish tone, which was really great!

I loved the mystery in this book! I didn't expect it, it was pretty violent, seeing as a lot of people died over the course of the book and there were all the clues, and then when we got to the ending, it was just so great to read!

This book is comparatively short. But it has a lot packed into it, the deaths, the investigation, the suspicion, and that was just so well written! Every word was a pleasure to read, and it was so compelling, and I could not turn the pages fast enough!

There were red herrings in this book. The one big one, near the end, I caught hook, line, and sinker, just like I was supposed to, it did its job, because that ending, that was totally shocking for me! I didn't see that happening at all! So awesome!

I enjoyed this book so much, and I know I will read more by Gretchen McNeil, and I won't be alone!
