Week 49 Review: Second Chance Summer

From Goodreads:
Taylor Edwards' family might not be the closest-knit—everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled—but for the most part, they get along just fine. Then Taylor's dad gets devastating news, and her parents decide that the family will spend one last summer all together at their old lake house in the Pocono Mountains.

Crammed into a place much smaller and more rustic than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again. And Taylor discovers that the people she thought she had left behind haven't actually gone anywhere. Her former best friend is still around, as is her first boyfriend…and he's much cuter at seventeen than he was at twelve.

As the summer progresses and the Edwards become more of a family, they're more aware than ever that they're battling a ticking clock. Sometimes, though, there is just enough time to get a second chance—with family, with friends, and with love.

My Review:
This was as really sweet book! I mean, I imagine most families are like theirs were in the beginning, together, but not really, and kinda knowing each other, but not totally. I mean, mine is. And then they get horrible news, and things change.

I think it sucks that families have to go through something bad like this to pull together. They shouldn't have to even pull together, they should be together. But people just don't have time for that, and families have a harder and easier time on getting along with each other.

This was a sad book to read, because there was her dad's news, and how that changed things, for the better, at first, but knowing that it's going to get worse in a not so big time. But then life happens, and it doesn't stop till you do when you're dead. Yeah.

It was just a really sweet and sour contemporary book, with the good and the bad, and with the new and the old, and just everything that life is, which makes it a really great contemporary, and I enjoyed reading it!

Yep, this was a pretty great book!
