Week 50 Review: Feedback

From Goodreads:
Benson Fisher escaped from Maxfield Academy's deadly rules and brutal gangs.

Or so he thought.

But now Benson is trapped in a different kind of prison: a town filled with hauntingly familiar faces. People from Maxfield he saw die. Friends he was afraid he had killed.

They are all pawns in the school's twisted experiment, held captive and controlled by an unseen force. As he searches for answers, Benson discovers that Maxfield Academy's plans are more sinister than anything he imagined—and they may be impossible to stop.

My Review:
Oh, this was a really fantastic book! I enjoyed it just so much! And yeah, after the ending of Variant, well, I was really, really excited to read this book! And it totally delivered on all the promise of tension and conflict! Really great!

So it starts off pretty quickly, and then things just keep happening to Benson, and the gang! It wasn't fun for them, but as readers, we relish in their conflicts, because it entertains us. Which does say something about humanity, but oh, well. It's fiction, it's not real. So no guilt!

I just really enjoyed the short chapters, because that's one really great technique for thrillers, and boy, was this book a thriller! Like the fact that those at the school were robots, and their actual human counterparts were in the village?

Oh, and the only way to free them is to go back to the school? Yeah, not fun! But a necessary evil, what with that one scene with the leader dude and his kids-kids that could be robots, seeing the training they got at the school!

Yeah, this was a really great, fantastic book, and I enjoyed it so much!
