Week 6 Review: Speechless

From Goodreads:
Everyone knows that Chelsea Knot can't keep a secret.

Until now. Because the last secret she shared turned her into a social outcast—and nearly got someone killed.

Now Chelsea has taken a vow of silence—to learn to keep her mouth shut, and to stop hurting anyone else. And if she thinks keeping secrets is hard, not speaking up when she's ignored, ridiculed and even attacked is worse.

But there's strength in silence, and in the new friends who are, shockingly, coming her way—people she never noticed before; a boy she might even fall for. If only her new friends can forgive what she's done. If only she can forgive herself.

My Review:
This book was a little bit sad. Because she saw something, and absent-mindedly said something-and because of that, a guy was nearly beaten to death, because what she said convinced them that he was gay, and that was unacceptable for them. Which is a pretty sucky situation for anyone!

True, the decision to not speak, that's a pretty extreme thing. But Chelsea feels really bad about what happened, and this was half penance, and half a preventative measure, so it wouldn't happen again. Which are the actions of a good person.

I really enjoyed the sweet romance between Chelsea and Sam, because hey, he's a close friend of the guy who got beat up because of one of her passing comments. So you'd think they wouldn't work, but they did, they just had to deal with that issue!

That ending, that was pretty perfect. That the bullies got most of what they deserved, fair and just, being kicked off the team, I wish that things worked out like that more often! Well, I wish things like the whole beating thing didn't happen at all, but that's less likely to happen.

I do wish that we had found out what had happened to Asha's mom, but at least Chelsea found out! And yeah, this was just such a great book! I enjoyed it so much!
