Week 23 Review: Goddess

From Goodreads:
After accidentally unleashing the gods from their captivity on Olympus, Helen must find a way to re-imprison them without starting a devastating war. But the gods are angry, and their thirst for blood already has a body count.

To make matters worse, the Oracle reveals that a diabolical Tyrant is lurking among them, which drives a wedge between the once-solid group of friends. As the gods use the Scions against one another, Lucas’s life hangs in the balance. Still unsure whether she loves him or Orion, Helen is forced to make a terrifying decision, for war is coming to her shores.

In Josephine Angelini’s compelling conclusion to the masterfully woven Starcrossed trilogy, a goddess must rise above it all to change a destiny that’s been written in the stars. With worlds built just as fast as they crumble, love and war collide in an all-out battle that will leave no question unanswered and no heart untouched.

My Review:
Oh, wow, what a great ending to the series! I mean, I've loved this series from the beginning, and yeah, it has epic characters, epic adventures and fights and conflicts! I just loved the romance, and the bit of a triangle that formed between Helen, Lucas, and Orion, and how it wrapped up, because it became an almost square, if you count sibling love between Lucas and Cassandra.

I loved how Helen outsmarted Zeus, gave him Everyland, but kept the borders, so that he couldn't leave, and he couldn't send her to Tartarus as he planned. How she extracted oaths so that he and his fellow Olympians wouldn't curse anyone, and yeah, she trapped him in her "trojan horse." Even if the personal cost to her was high, it did succeed, which was the point.

I'm a bit confused on the roles, and if Helen actually was the Tyrant in the end, because she didn't do anything bad beyond a few incidents, and hardly in the scale that was foretold.

Loved the ending, that it's mostly happy, and that Helen owes Hecate 3 favours, and the possibility of what they might be...and then Lucas's thing where he will eventually take the place of Hades, because he promised that he would. So the future isn't roses and puppies, it'll still have adventure, but hopefully not on the scale that was at the end of Goddess!!

I loved this book, and yeah, can't wait to see what Josephine Angelini writes next!
