Week 31 Review: The Rules

From Goodreads:
1. Never trust anyone.

2. Remember they are always searching.

3. Don't get involved.

4. Keep your head down.

5. Don't fall in love.

Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane's survival—and that of her adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded humans in a small Wisconsin town, to hide in plain sight at her high school from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) "project."

But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief's son and someone who sees too much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible, Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly, nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules…

My Review:
This was a really fantastic book! The rules, while designed to keep her safe, well, safe is one thing. Having a life is another. And so during this book, well Ariane breaks away from safe, to live her life, in the way of her own choosing!

I loved the alternating POV's of Ariane and Zane, because that got us into both of their heads, and seeing what they were thinking, in combination with how they were action, well, it really helped us see them, and that was really great!

Ariane was a really smart person. It was easy to tell, from how she was acting. And I really liked that, that she was smart, and she was strong in a number of ways-though it was how she was made, not something she's developed in a gym. But her situation cultivated the other types of strength!

Oh, that ending? That what the whole program was? And just who was involved? And that the whole break out was just another step in evaluating her, that they were watching her the whole time? That was a hurtful ending, but they do get away in the end, so that's a plus!

Really great book, really enjoyable, and now I just can't wait for more! I really, really want more!
