Week 33 Review: Dark Secret

From Goodreads:
Rafael De La Cruz has spent centuries hunting vampires with his brothers, and with each passing year his capacity to feel emotions has grown weaker and weaker until finally there's barely been a memory left-until only sheer willpower keeps him from turning into the very abomination he hunts. But it'll take more than will to keep him away from the woman who is meant to be his and his alone…

For five years, rancher Colby Jansen has been the sole protector of her younger half-siblings, and with fierce determination and work she has kept her family together and the ranch operational. Now, the De La Cruz brothers are threatening that stability. They claim that her siblings belong with their father's family, not with her. Colby vows to fight them-especially the cold and arrogant Rafael De La Cruz. But Rafael is after more than her family-he wants Colby and will not let anything stand between them. After ages of loneliness, the raw desire to possess her overwhelms his very soul, driving him to claim her as his
lifemate.

My Review:
This was a really great book! And that Virkinoff was in it, well, seeing as his brother had the last full length book, and he himself gets the next full length book, well, yeah, that was great! This book was just awesome!

For some reason, I don't get how her half siblings would be getting the farm. It seemed to be her mom's land, not her stepdad's, which means that as oldest, it should go her, and not to the humans who are in protect of the De La Cruz family. But anyways.

Colby isn't the typical lifemate. She's been on her own for a long while, and she's been working really hard doing so, running a ranch by herself. So she didn't take any of Rafael's old-fashioned thinking, which he got into a few too many times, which annoyed me a bit!

This is the first book that has the 5 brothers of vampires in it. And I know that they were once friends of the De La Cruz's, but that they made very poor choices, and became vampires. But yeah, this is the first book, and while the one died in this book, that still leaves 4 more! Can't wait for them to be taken down!

Really enjoyed this book, it was really great, and I can't wait to reread more!
