Week 36 Review: Proxy

From Goodreads:
Knox was born into one of the City's wealthiest families. A Patron, he has everything a boy could possibly want—the latest tech, the coolest clothes, and a Proxy to take all his punishments. When Knox breaks a vase, Syd is beaten. When Knox plays a practical joke, Syd is forced to haul rocks. And when Knox crashes a car, killing one of his friends, Syd is branded and sentenced to death.

Syd is a Proxy. His life is not his own.

Then again, neither is Knox's. Knox and Syd have more in common than either would guess. So when Knox and Syd realize that the only way to beat the system is to save each other, they flee. Yet Knox's father is no ordinary Patron, and Syd is no ordinary Proxy. The ensuing cross-country chase will uncover a secret society of rebels, test both boys' resolve, and shine a blinding light onto a world of those who owe and those who pay. Some debts, it turns out, cannot be repaid.

My Review:
I really enjoyed this book a lot! The idea of patrons and proxy's isn't a nice one, and not one that I want our world to head back to, since in the history, the rich had whipping boys, but it's already there in this one, so just going with the flow is about the only option. Until it isn't, which the boys start on in this book!

To be honest, I wasn't sure that I was going to like this book. The synopsis is sound, but not one that I thought I'd enjoy, what with the proxy's and all! And I almost put it down a few times in the early few pages. But after the accident, well, I just couldn't put it down, things were getting interesting!

Watching the interactions of Syd and Knox was really interesting, because they've grown up in the most opposite ways possible, Syd being a proxy since he was born, and Knox the son of one of the most powerful people in Mountain City. Yeah.

Wow, that ending! That was not expected, but it was just so good! Such a shocker, and a game-changer, and just absolutely the best! And it's going to effect the next book in a pretty big way! I can't wait to read about that!

I really enjoyed this book a lot, and now I can't wait for more!
