Week 36 Reviews: The Assassin and the Pirate Lord, The Assassin and the Healer, The Assassin and the Desert, The Assassin and the Underworld, The Assassin and the Empire, Throne of Glass, The Assassin and the Princess, The Assassin and the Captain, Crown of Midnight

From Goodreads:
On a remote island in a tropical sea, Celaena Sardothien, feared assassin, has come for retribution. She's been sent by the Assassin's Guild to collect on a debt they are owed by the Lord of the Pirates. But when Celaena learns that the agreed payment is not in money, but in slaves, her mission suddenly changes—and she will risk everything to right the wrong she's been sent to bring about.

From Goodreads:
Meet the Assassin: beautiful, defiant, destined for greatness. Celaena Sardothien has challenged her master. Now she must pay the price. Her journey to the Red Desert will be an arduous one, but it may change the fate of her cursed world forever...

From Goodreads:
The Silent Assassins of the Red Desert aren't much for conversation, and Celaena Sardothien wouldn't have it any other way. She's not there to chatter, she’s there to hone her craft as the world's most feared killer for hire. When the quiet is shattered by forces who want to destroy the Silent Assassins, Celaena must find a way to stop them, or she'll be lucky to leave the desert alive.

From Goodreads:
When the King of the Assassins gives Celaena Sardothien a special assignment that will help fight slavery in the kingdom, she jumps at the chance to strike a blow against an evil practice. The misson is a dark and deadly affair which takes Celaena from the rooftops of the city to the bottom of the sewer--and she doesn't like what she finds there.

From Goodreads:
Celaena Sardothien is the assassin with everything: a place to call her own, the love of handsome Sam, and, best of all, freedom. Yet, she won't be truly free until she is far away from her old master, Arobynn Hamel; Celaena must take one last daring assignment that will liberate her forever. But having it all, means you have a lot to lose . . .

From Goodreads:

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another.

Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

From Goodreads:
The Assassin and the Princess is a short story/scene that takes place in between Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight.

From Goodreads:
An assassin's loyalties are always in doubt.
But her heart never wavers.

After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king's contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes.

Keeping up the deadly charade—while pretending to do the king's bidding—will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she's given a task that could jeopardize everything she's come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon -- forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice.

Where do the assassin's loyalties lie, and who is she most willing to fight for?

My first review of Throne of Glass
My Review:
Oh, man, it was so great to read all of the series that's out currently! I mean, so freaking good! I learned so much about Celaena, and her past, how she ended up in the mines, and yeah, while those first 4 novellas and 1 short story lead to a very sad event, it does also lead to the rest of the series!

I have a suspicion about Celeana, and who she was before Arobynn Hamel found her. Because I think he was connected, or was even the person, who was supposed to assassinate the royal family of Terrasen. And then he found Celeana. Yeah. And the ending of Crown of Midnight confirms that I'm right! Which just goes back to Desert, and Ansel, well, Celeana has a bigger loss then you!

Oh, starting with Pirate Lord, to the last novella, Celeana shows how strong she is, from her stand against slavery, and giving her money to that healer, standing up to Arobynn Hamel, falling in love with Sam, yeah. But that ending with Sam, not fun. Which just make some events in Crown of Midnight all the more harder to read!

Throne of Glass was just as good this time as it was the last time! Loved learning more about this world again, the friends that Celeana made, they were really awesome, and I really enjoyed them, though the one guy that she warns isn't in Crown of Midnight, which sucks!

Yeah, while I was kinda sad that things didn't work out with Dorian, I was more rooting for her and Chaol! And they got together! And it was so good! Too bad that it didn't last! It really sucks! I hope they get back together after they work out their issues!

Oh, when Nehemia dies, that was just awful. The guilt and sadness that she feels! And she does go a bit crazy, and while that was not pleasant to read, well, when we find out all the threads that were connected to that, it starts to make sense. Like Archer. I didn't like him, and turns out I was right not to!

There was still the whole thing going on with what the King was doing, and both Celeana and Dorian did some investigating, but they did find some truly terrible things! A bit scary! But just more things for them to face!

That ending, oh, man, that ending! It confirmed what I was thinking, and it was just so action packed, I loved it, and and kinda hated it, because it broke Celeana's heart some more. But that hope, and the revelation, well, yeah. It was kinda a cliffhanger, as in, what are the characters going to do next? I can't wait for more!

Loved reading these, they were just so epic and good, and I can't wait for more! This series is just so freaking amazing!
