Week 18 Review: Rebel Spring

From Goodreads:
Love, power, and magic collide with war in the second book of the Falling Kingdoms series

Auranos has fallen and the three kingdoms—Auranos, Limeros, and Paelsia—are now united as one country called Mytica. But still, magic beckons, and with it the chance to rule not just Mytica, but the world...

When the evil King Gaius announces that a road is to be built into the Forbidden Mountains, formally linking all of Mytica together, he sets off a chain of events that will forever change the face of this land, forcing Cleo the dethroned princess, Magnus the reluctant heir, Lucia the haunted sorceress, and Jonas the desperate rebel to take steps they never could have imagined.

My Review:
Oh, what an excellent, excellent, wonderful book! Still totally seeing why it was marketed as a YA A Song of Ice and Fire series, because it totally is, with random deaths, magic, and politics, that are freaking complicated, and war.

I so loved this book, we got to see the characters some more, like Cleo and Jonas, and we got to see the Watchers more, and how they may or may not have a hand in what goes on in Mytica. Which is just a super thing, because it just expands the world even more!!!

I felt a bit bad for Magnus, what with his love for his sister with all the meaning of the word but blood, but then in this book, she might be developing a romance with a Watcher, with her finding him like the most perfect of beauty and such.

And it was sad what the Queen was doing to Lucia, drugging Lucia until she worked up the courage to kill her, to stop her husband, because yeah, Gaius needs to be stopped, but killing the girl who'd been raised as your daughter? Not the right path!

Yeah, this was an epic novel, and I can't wait to read the next book!!!!
