Week 25 Review: The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things

From Goodreads:
Sage Czinski is trying really hard to be perfect. If she manages it, people won't peer beyond the surface, or ask hard questions about her past. She's learned to substitute causes for relationships, and it's working just fine . . . until Shane Cavendish strolls into her math class. He's a little antisocial, a lot beautiful, and everything she never knew she always wanted.

Shane Cavendish just wants to be left alone to play guitar and work on his music. He's got heartbreak and loneliness in his rearview mirror, and this new school represents his last chance. He doesn't expect to be happy; he only wants to graduate and move on. He never counted on a girl like Sage.

But love doesn't mend all broken things, and sometimes life has to fall apart before it can be put back together again. . . .

My Review:
This book was really fantastic to read! These characters had a lot going on, but they didn't let that stop them from living their lives, it just made them fight harder! I stayed up late in the night to read this book, it was that freaking good!

Throughout this book, there was mentions to the darkness within Sage. That her dad died when she was seven, and she was sent to live with her mom, then she was in a home for troubled kids, before her half aunt on her dad's side got her. We knew something bad happened, we just didn't know what.

And then we find out what happened, that big inner darkness, seeing as it was used against her. And in a pretty horrible manner! That added so much complication, so it was really great to get to that happy ending!

I really enjoyed Sage's journey, that she realized, just because she got angry, didn't meant that she was going to go postal. She was just a kid when it happened, and she was just protecting herself. So I really enjoyed that ending!

Very fantastic book, about relationships, moving on from traumatic events, just so great!
