Week 33 Review: Every Last Breath

From Goodreads:
Some loves will last 'til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

My Review:
Oh, man, this book! It was so great, and I enjoyed it so much, but at the same time, I'm sad, because we have to say goodbye to the characters in this book, and that totally sucks. But we have a great time in the time that we had!

I didn't have a chance to vote in who Layla would end up with in this book, which I'm glad for, because that was a tough decision. So I was glad that I didn't have a vote there, though at the time, It was just a bit sad, seeing as I missed the deadline only by a small time period.

But anyways, I thought that the guy she was going to pick would be a huge thing over the course of the books, but it was actually pretty much done in the first 100 pages. And I really enjoyed who she chose, because it made sense, and it made them happy!

We learned more about Lilith, and about Layla in the process-that she wasn't part demon, because Lilith wasn't a demon. She was something special, something that Layla joined when she had what the witches gave her.

Speaking of, what Roth had to give up, Bambi, what with the deal for Layla to survive what was done to her, that was just so sad. And it sucks that they didn't get her back, because the whole point there was so that they would gain her powers, and so they would survive. Done, and done. That was just so bittersweet!

The whole process to beat the bad guys, yeah, that was a hard decision, but ultimately, the only one. And it gave her a bit of chance to talk to her mom, which was a nice thing. And hey, it could be motherly love or self preservation that led Lilith to do what she did!

Just a really fantastic, wonderful, Jennifer L. Armentrout book! I enjoyed it so much!
