Week 40 Review: The Dogs

From Goodreads:
Cameron and his mom have been on the run for five years. His father is hunting them. At least, that's what Cameron's been told.

When they settle in an isolated farmhouse, Cameron starts to see and hear things that aren't possible. Soon he's questioning everything he thought he knew and even his sanity.

What's hiding in the night? Buried in the past? Cameron must uncover the dark secrets before they tear him apart.

My Review:
This was a really awesome book! I really enjoyed the mystery, well, mysteries, that of Cameron's dad, and that of the farmhouse that he's living in, and the events of 50 years ago that are still haunting those that lived through them, or relatives of those people.

Something about Cameron was a bit strange. I did enjoy his narration, but that strangeness was a part of it, where his thoughts would go. Part of it was the circumstances he was in, running and hiding from his dad. But part of it was a part of who he was, and maybe it came from his dad. Yeah.

A few of the descriptions were a bit annoying, like his friend, Benji, who he thinks of as gross, because he's fat. And that's not really fair. It's bad enough to live with the self esteem issues that it causes, but to deal with others perceptions of you, ones that may or may not fit, makes it worse, and it sucks.

I really did enjoy how the mysteries came to be wrapped up, and how one helped the other! Really awesome, and really clever, and yet sad at the same time, because the 50 year old mystery is done, and there's nothing to do but tell the truth, it can't be fixed, and that's kinda sad. But hte modern day mystery could be dealt with, and that was really awesome!

Yep, really awesome book, and I enjoyed it a lot!
