Week 51 Review: Walk on Earth a Stranger

From Goodreads:
Lee Westfall has a secret. She can sense the presence of gold in the world around her. Veins deep beneath the earth, pebbles in the river, nuggets dug up from the forest floor. The buzz of gold means warmth and life and home—until everything is ripped away by a man who wants to control her. Left with nothing, Lee disguises herself as a boy and takes to the trail across the country. Gold was discovered in California, and where else could such a magical girl find herself, find safety?

Walk on Earth a Stranger, the first book in this new trilogy, introduces—as only Rae Carson can—a strong heroine, a perilous road, a fantastical twist, and a slow-burning romance.

Includes a map and author's note on historical research.

My Review:
This book was so awesome! I enjoyed it so much, it was another fantastic book by Rae Carson, and I can't wait to read more of this series and more books by her! Just so great! I thought that it might push some of my buttons, and it did, but that just made me read faster!

I loved Lee, she was a really fantastic heroine, just born in a time where females aren't the most appreciated! Which leads to several things-like her uncle "in charge of her" because she apparently need that, and her having to dress as a guy to get away!

This book was a series of bad and good things happening, sometimes pretty much at the same time. The bad parts were hard to read, because it sucked that they happened. But the good things were really great to read about!

I loved this gang of characters that became her family, the boy that she grew up with, the family that she travelled with, the guide that lost his leg, the 3 gay college students. They made quite a team, and I can't wait to read more about them!

This was a really fantastic book, and I enjoyed it so much, and I wonder when we're going to find out about what happened to cause her mom to leave the big town for the small mining colony!
