Week 9 Reviews: Morrighan, The Heart of Betrayal

From Goodreads:
Before borders were drawn, before treaties were signed, before wars were waged anew, before the great kingdoms of the Remnant were even born and the world of old was only a hazy slate of memory told in story and legend, a girl and her family fought to survive.

And that girl's name was Morrighan.

In this prequel novella to the Remnant Chronicles, a girl and a boy from enemy camps meet, fall in love--and set history in motion.

From Goodreads:
Held captive in the barbarian kingdom of Venda, Lia and Rafe have little chance of escape. Desperate to save Lia's life, her erstwhile assassin, Kaden, has told the Vendan Komizar that she has the gift, and the Komizar's interest in Lia is greater than anyone could have foreseen.

Meanwhile, nothing is straightforward: There's Rafe, who lied to Lia but has sacrificed his freedom to protect her; Kaden, who meant to assassinate her but has now saved her life; and the Vendans, whom Lia always believed to be savages. Now that she lives among them, however, she realizes that may be far from the truth. Wrestling with her upbringing, her gift, and her sense of self, Lia must make powerful choices that will affect her country... and her own destiny.

My Review:
These books! Oh, man, these books! I loved reading them so, so much! They were so enjoyable and such great additions to the series! So glad that they exist and that I got a chance to read them! So complicated and amazing!

So Morrighan, well, it was just so fantastic to read it! It's the story of what happened after the world ended, and the struggles to start it up again to the world we were introduced to in The Kiss of Deception! So yeah, that was really great!

And then in The Heart of Betrayal, we learned that the history from the first book was false, and things didn't quite line up with Morrighan, but that's because one side was what was currently happening, and the other was history, and they were told by different people. Yeah.

We learned more about Kaden, that he wasn't born a Vendan. And we met the Komizar, who was just really awful and as Lia found out, just like her dad, telling her what to do, wanting power and not caring about her as a person. So not fun!

Really enjoyed these books, and oh, the ending of The Heart of Betrayal makes me glad that I read these books now, when the 3rd book is coming out soonish this year, yeah!
