Week 12 Review: Assassin's Heart

From Goodreads:
In the kingdom of Lovero, nine rival Families of assassins lawfully kill people for a price. As a highly skilled member of one of these powerful clans, seventeen-year-old Lea Saldana has always trusted in the strength of her Family. Until she awakens to find them murdered and her home in flames. The Da Vias, the Saldanas' biggest enemy, must be responsible—and Lea should have seen it coming. But her secret relationship with the Da Vias' son, Val, has clouded her otherwise killer instinct—and given the Da Vias more reason than ever to take her Family down.

Racked with guilt and shattered over Val's probable betrayal, Lea sets out to even the score, with her heart set on retaliation and only one thought clear in her mind: make the Da Vias pay.

With shades of The Godfather and Romeo and Juliet, this richly imagined fantasy from debut author Sarah Ahiers is a story of love, lies, and the ultimate vengeance.

My Review:
This book was so enjoyable! Loved the world of the assassins, of the Families and how they worked. Plus, assassins! I know technically what they do is wrong, well, in real life, and in this world, too, but it's also right, with the Goddess that they serve!

Loved all the details of this world! Of angry ghosts, Gods and Goddesses, coins to ensure a quicker reincarnation and a better new life. It was fascinating, and with Lea being a servant of her goddess, well, there were some perks there!

Really enjoyed her training with Les, and her arguments with her uncle. She lost her Family, and most of her family, and there she was, not purposefully, but slowly rebuilding both. I really can't wait to see where the sequel is going to go, what with how things ended in this book!

I really hope that Father Faraday is in the sequel! He was so awesome, and enjoyable to read. And he'd be a great addition to the Saldana family! Well, they're going to have to cross the plains, so maybe we'll see him, even if it's just a glimpse!

Such a great book, and I can't wait for the sequel!
