Week 30 Review: Dark Carousel

From Goodreads:
In the new Carpathian novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan, a woman falls prey to the seductive allure of the past—and a vampire warrior's intoxicating embrace...

The moment Charlotte Vintage walks into his club, Tariq Asenguard's blood is set on fire. The ancient Carpathian had given up hope of finding his lifemate, but now he will do anything to make Charlotte his own. What Tariq doesn't know is that Charlotte is using herself and her best friend as bait—to try to draw out the bloodthirsty killers who have already murdered Charlotte's brother and mentor.

Charlotte is familiar with Tariq. Not only is he one of the richest and most eligible bachelors in the city, but he's also a renowned collector of old carousel horses, which Charlotte restores. Their shared passion opens Charlotte up to trusting him with her life and with the desire she can no longer control. But it also makes her vulnerable to a centuries-old curse that will unite her and Tariq in a war against the enemies of humans and Carpathians alike...

My Review:
I just loved reading this book! It continued the plot threads from Dark Crime, the novella in Edge of Darkness, and yeah, I really enjoyed reading it! It was great to see these characters again, and meet some new ones, as well!

Tariq was a really interesting character. He was friends with the Malinov brothers before they deliberately turned vampires. So for him, it's more personal, and harder, because they did have that connection that they broke.

Charlotte, yeah, I really loved her! The best part of this book was able to be in her skin, she was intelligent and a warrior even if she doesn't see it in herself at first, and she shows this throughout this book! Plus the fact that she was lifemates with Tariq, well, yeah, she's going to have a fantastic life!

Her physic gifts, besides being the reason why she could be converted without turning insane, well, yeah, that was a really great part of the story! It was a small thing, but it was huge in meaning. And I don't want to spoil, but it's pretty important to the both of them, and pretty darned useful!

Like the carousel that Tariq wanted restored. It was pretty important to this story in a multitude of ways with her gift, the maker, and the curse. It was so fantastic to read about that, and how they dealt with it, that was really great!

We learned more about mages, about Xavier's father, Alycrome, who I kinda feel sorry for, since he fathered 3 bad guys, and I have a feeling that they could've killed him! And we learned more about splinters, and how it diminished the person, to have parts of them sent out in others. A bit like horcruxs, but in this world, and a bit different!

Loved the developments in this world and for future books and couples! There were some new creations from the experiments that the brothers were doing. And some developing plot lines from the Malinov brothers, making us want to be rid of them all the more!

Loved reading this book, just so, so much, the ending was fantastic and amazing, and I can't wait for the next Dark book!

  1. Glad to see this has more than just vampire killing agendas, I am also a follower of Carpathian, but lately kind of getting bored of the same routine. The last one was interesting but not that original

    1. For me, it's like most of the books are the same routine, with a little boost each book to elevate the series :) I really liked the boost in this book! Of course, there were vampire killing agendas, but it's the Malinov brothers and followers!
