Week 36 Reviews: Exile, Encore to an Empty Room, Finding Abbey Road

From Goodreads:
Catherine Summer Carlson knows how to manage bands like a professional—she's a student at the PopArts Academy at Mount Hope High, where rock legends Allegiance to North got their start. Summer knows that falling for the lead singer of her latest band is the least professional thing a manager can do. But Caleb Daniels isn't an ordinary band boy—he's a hot, dreamy, sweet-singing, exiled-from-his-old-band, possibly-with-a-deep-dark-side band boy. And he can do that thing. That thing when someone sings a song and it inhabits you, possesses you, and moves you like a marionette to its will.

Summer also finds herself at the center of a mystery she never saw coming. When Caleb reveals a secret about his long-lost father, one band's past becomes another's present, and Summer finds it harder and harder to be both band manager and girlfriend. She knows what the well-mannered Catherine side of her would do, but she also knows what her heart is telling her. Maybe it's time to accept who she really is, even if it means becoming an exile herself. . . .

From Goodreads:
Summer always wanted Dangerheart—the band of talented exiles she manages—to find success. Now that they've become an overnight sensation, her hard work is really starting to pay off.

So how come her life seems to be snapping like an old guitar string?

Maybe it's because part of her knows that college applications are due soon, but another part of her can't imagine leaving her life behind—especially when the band is on the verge of a record deal and her relationship is becoming something more than she ever dreamed of. And especially when there's a chance of finding another missing song written by the famous dead rocker who is also Caleb's father.

But are Caleb, the band's future, and the lost songs more important than college? Summer will have to decide. It's time to choose who she wants to be, even if that might mean kissing Caleb good-bye.

Filled with infectious music, mystery, and romance, this electrifying sequel to Kevin Emerson's Exile doesn't miss a beat.

From Goodreads:
Catherine Summer Carlson has hit rock bottom. On the brink of a record deal, her band Dangerheart is in disarray. One member has gone rogue, and another is missing and wanted by the police. On top of that, Summer's parents are pressuring her to choose a future that doesn't include the music world she loves so much. She's torn between wanting to stay with Dangerheart and her soulmate Caleb, and taking off in a different direction at her dream college.

Meanwhile, Summer and Caleb are closer than ever to finally unlocking the mystery of Eli White's lost songs, but the last clues present an impossible challenge: can they outwit Candy Shell records, stay one step ahead of the police, and find a way to get to London before it’s too late? And if they can get there, will they be ready for what they may find? Summer's dreams of the future, Dangerheart's chances of becoming the band they've always dreamed of being: it all comes down to these next five days. Summer knows this would be the riskiest thing she's ever done, that her relationship with her parents may never recover, but she also knows that this might be her last shot at figuring out what her heart really wants.

Packed with mystery and music, Kevin Emerson's final volume in the Exile series is the pitch-perfect ending to Summer's journey of self-discovery and love, and an ode to music fans everywhere.

My Review:
I enjoyed reading these books so much! I loved the music, and these characters, and the hunt for his dad's hidden music, and then dealing with everything that was happening to them because of who they were! So fantastic!

Exile was the start of everything, and if you could measure the roller coaster ride this book was, well, really, the whole series, it would be a series of ups and downs, with some plateau, but short ones before things were happening again!

There were a lot of mini cliffhangers, but then there was huge, major one at the end of Encore to an Empty Room, which made me so glad that I could read Finding Abbey Road right away. Because yeah, that was a big honking, evil cliffhanger!

I enjoyed how everything worked out! There was her personal struggle about her future, and then there was the band and the troubles there, and yeah, I really enjoyed how it all worked out! It was a really great ending for this music trilogy!

These books were really fantastic, and I can't wait to read more by Kevin Emerson!
