Week 39 Review: The Women in the Walls

From Goodreads:
Lucy Acosta's mother died when she was three. Growing up in a Victorian mansion in the middle of the woods with her cold, distant father, she explored the dark hallways of the estate with her cousin, Margaret. They're inseparable--a family.

When her aunt Penelope, the only mother she's ever known, tragically disappears while walking in the woods surrounding their estate, Lucy finds herself devastated and alone. Margaret has been spending a lot of time in the attic. She claims she can hear her dead mother's voice whispering from the walls. Emotionally shut out by her father, Lucy watches helplessly as her cousin's sanity slowly unravels. But when she begins hearing voices herself, Lucy finds herself confronting an ancient and deadly legacy that has marked the women in her family for generations.

My Review:
I really enjoyed reading this book! It was totally creepy, but it was just so enjoyable! Loved it, and yeah, I would really love a sequel, because that would solve my few complaints! Otherwise, this book was really fantastic!

There were multiple layers to this book. There was the Acosta family rules and presentation. There was the wonder of if they were going crazy. And there was the family history, and the events in the past that were coming out to play with the present! It was fantastic!

You have to feel bad for Lucy, while she's privileged in money and family status, well, she doesn't live that great of a life, with not a lot of love, a lot of loss, and a lot of crushing expectations that were hard for her to deal with. And then all of this happened!

That ending was just evil! It wasn't a happy ending, or a victorious one. Things didn't work out for them. And then things weren't fully explained, like what the heck was going on with the club. Or what those ladies were, that they could do what they did.

This was a horror book, and things didn't end happily. I really enjoyed reading it, and I hope you guys do, too!
