Week 43 Review: A Mortal Song

From Goodreads:
Sora's life was full of magic--until she discovered it was all a lie.

Heir to Mt. Fuji's spirit kingdom, Sora yearns to finally take on the sacred kami duties. But just as she confronts her parents to make a plea, a ghostly army invades the mountain. Barely escaping with her life, Sora follows her mother's last instructions to a heart-wrenching discovery: she is a human changeling, raised as a decoy while her parents' true daughter remained safe but unaware in modern-day Tokyo. Her powers were only borrowed, never her own. Now, with the world's natural cycles falling into chaos and the ghosts plotting an even more deadly assault, it falls on her to train the unprepared kami princess.

As Sora struggles with her emerging human weaknesses and the draw of an unanticipated ally with secrets of his own, she vows to keep fighting for her loved ones and the world they once protected. But for one mortal girl to make a difference in this desperate war between the spirits, she may have to give up the only home she's ever known.

My Review:
This book was really great! I loved the world of the kami, ghosts and ki, and yeah, it was just so great to read! The whole "switched to protect the important child" thing has been done before, but I loved how it was used in this book!

Sora has lived her whole life thinking that she was a kami. And then Mt. Fuji is attacked, and she has to run to survive. And then she finds out that her parents aren't her birth parents, that they switched her with their birth child, to protect their own. Which isn't a fun thing to learn!

I really enjoyed these characters, Sora had a lot of emotions going through her, and figuring out who she was! Chiyo was happy most of the time, which was her kami base emotion, like Takeo's steadfastness. They were really awesome to read about!

Watching them go on the quest to fulfill the prophecy, while looking into clues as to who the bad guy was, was so fantastic! Of course, there were also action scenes, and betrayals and twists and turns, so there was always something going on! So great!

I loved reading this book, it was just so great! Loved how everything turned out!
