Week 26 Review: The Sweetest Burn

From Goodreads:
The breathtaking second novel in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost's Broken Destiny series finds Ivy and Adrian rekindling their alliance—and passion—as the struggle for the fate of the world begins…

Conquering a supernatural realm turned out to be easier than getting over a broken heart. But her initial victory has made Ivy a target for revenge, forcing her to reunite with the dangerous—and dangerously sexy—Adrian. Ivy isn't sure which will be harder: finding the hallowed weapon that will repair the crumbling walls between the demon and human realms, or resisting Adrian, who's decided that come hell or high water, he will make Ivy his.

At first, Adrian tried to resist his feelings for Ivy. Now, determined to break the curse that dooms their love, he's vowed to save her and to have her. If only he can persuade her to forgive his past sins. But defying destiny—and surrendering to the smoldering desire between them—will bring consequences and sacrifices they never imagined…

My Review:
Oh, wow, I loved reading this book! I recently reread The Beautiful Ashes, and then this book came out, so it all worked out very well! I read so many books that sometimes I lose details, so it was nice to go into this world fairly fresh!

There is a bit of a gap between the first book and this one, which is good, they needed time to rest and recharge. What with the adventures they have in this book, they needed that time! The location of the one relic that they needed to find, oh, it proved to need a merry chase to find it, and then use it!

One part of this book was the thought that someone in their group was a traitor-that they were helping the bad guys. Everybody basically accused everybody else, which made things very tense! Who it was obvious once it was explained, hindsight and all!

We've known for a whole book now that Adrian is supposed to betray Ivy. But that's not what happens in this book, they've been fighting their relationship, but they both given in, and it's beautiful! But then that ending happened! Gah! And it makes perfect sense, and it's so heartbreaking!

I absolutely loved reading this book, and I'm so glad that The Brightest Embers is coming out later this year, instead of a year away!
