Week 34 Review: Ringer

From Goodreads:
Like its ambitious companion novel, Replica, this far-reaching novel by the powerhouse author of Before I Fall and the Delirium trilogy digs deep into questions of how to be a human being in a world where humanity cannot be taken for granted.

In the world outside of the Haven Institute, Lyra and Caelum are finding it hard to be human—and Lyra, infected at Haven with a terrible disease, finds her symptoms are growing worse. When Caelum leaves without warning, Lyra follows him, seeking a pioneering organization in Philadelphia that might have a cure. But what they uncover there is a shocking connection to their past, even as their future seems in danger of collapsing.

Though Gemma just wants to go back to her normal life after Haven, she soon learns that her powerful father has other plans for the replicas—unless she and her boyfriend Pete can stop him. But they soon learn that they aren't safe either. The Haven Institute wasn't destroyed after all, and now Gemma is the one behind the walls.

Bestselling author Lauren Oliver brings the Replica duology to a shocking close in Ringer, but like both Gemma and Lyra, you won't be able to leave the world of Haven behind after you've turned the last page.

My Review:
Oh, wow, I really enjoyed reading this book! Well, two books, because there is Lyra and Gemma! Like I did with Replica, I read a chapter of one of the girls, and then alternated to the other girl. Seeing what was happened to each girl around the same time was really great, and yeah, that's the kind of reader I am.

I don't know which girl's story I enjoyed more, Gemma's captivity, or Lyra's investigation. They were both so great! And of course, there were the feelings, like Lyra felt betrayed by Gemma not responding to her, but we knew the reason why was because she was being held captive. So yeah, really fantastic to read!

That the Haven Institution is still around-and they take Gemma, that's pretty darned horrible. Captivity is one of my buttons, so I was a bit finicky in the way that I was reading this book, and so I wouldn't let it stop me from reading this book. Yeah that I got past the pushed button, and Gemma got through the captivity!

Both of these girls have their guys, and while they might not spend all their time with them, because a) they can't physically do that, and b) they're unable because they aren't together, the time that they do have is precious. Well, so is beating the bad guys, and all that they discovered! Everything came together for two great endings!

Yeah, this was such a great book, and a great read, and a great ending to the duology!
