Week 42 Review: If I Fix You

From Goodreads:
Readers of Sarah Dessen, Cammie McGovern and Morgan Matson will adore this thought-provoking, complex and romantic contemporary novel from debut author Abigail Johnson, about finding the strength to put yourself back together when everything you know has fallen apart.

When sixteen-year-old Jill Whitaker's mom walks out—with a sticky note as a goodbye—only Jill knows the real reason she's gone. But how can she tell her father? Jill can hardly believe the truth herself.

Suddenly, the girl who likes to fix things—cars, relationships, romances, people—is all broken up. Used to be, her best friend, tall, blond and hot flirt Sean Addison, could make her smile in seconds. But not anymore. They don't even talk.

With nothing making sense, Jill tries to pick up the pieces of her life. But when a new guy moves in next door, intense, seriously cute, but with scars—on the inside and out—that he thinks don't show, Jill finds herself trying to make things better for Daniel. But over one long, hot Arizona summer, she realizes she can't fix anyone's life until she fixes her own. And she knows just where to start . . .

My Review:
I really enjoyed reading this book! I totally didn't expect what happened, the synopsis didn't lean that way, or at least, when it hints towards that, it gives not explanation as to what was to happen! And that was pretty awesome!

Jill escapes her quiet house on her roof. And that's why she meets Daniel when she did, when he and his mom were arguing, and she threw a bottle to stop them, and that broke the window. Opps. Not the easiest ending!

There were three big threads in this book. Her relationship with Daniel, her relationship with Sean, and her relationship with her parents. She used the first as a distraction, venting her problems with the other two. Given that he's 21 and she's going to be turning 17, they couldn't form the relationship that they both wanted, which caused its own problems.

I mean, how often is it that the love interest that the lady picks isn't the one that's mentioned in the synopsis? Well, he is, but as a former interest, given what she believed had happened. Of course, there were some details that she didn't know, so that made things work out! Really enjoyed that!

Really awesome book of having a big change in your life, and moving on from it! Loved it!
