Week 42 Review: A Promise of Fire, Breath of Fire

From Goodreads:
Catalia "Cat" Fisa is a powerful clairvoyant known as the Kingmaker. This smart-mouthed soothsayer has no interest in her powers and would much rather fly under the radar, far from the clutches of her homicidal mother. But when an ambitious warlord captures her, she may not have a choice…

Griffin is intent on bringing peace to his newly conquered realm in the magic-deprived south. When he discovers Cat is the Kingmaker, he abducts her. But Cat will do everything in her power to avoid her dangerous destiny and battle her captor at every turn. Although up for the battle, Griffin would prefer for Cat to help his people willingly, and he's ready to do whatever it takes to coax her…even if that means falling in love with her.

From Goodreads:
SHE'S DESTINED TO DESTROY THE WORLD...
BUT NOT IF SHE CAN HELP IT

"Cat" Catalia Fisa has been running from her destiny since she could crawl. But now, her newfound loved ones are caught between the shadow of Cat's tortured past and the threat of her world-shattering future. So what's a warrior queen to do when she knows it's her fate to be the harbinger of doom? Everything in her power.

Griffin knows Cat is destined to change the world—for the better. As the realms are descending into all-out war, Cat and Griffin risk sacrificing everything they've fought for. Gods willing, they will emerge side-by-side in the heart of their future kingdom...or die trying.

My Review:
These books were absolutely amazing! I just devoured them-I started A Promise of Fire around 3:30 am, and finished around 8, then went to sleep, and then read Breath of Fire the same day. I just had to read more! And then I went and looked for Heart of Fire, and requested it on NetGalley! I just want to read more of this epicness!

Gah, Cat and Griffin! They just sparked against each other, and the banter! Goodness! They were like the opposite of the Kelly Clarkson Good Goes the Bye lyric, "It's like we pulled the pin out of a grenade/It just didn't go off right away." It was like they were an explosive that was going off, but then something stabilized them together. Sure, they still have a bumpy road, but they're together now.

Cat has some pretty big secrets about her past. And they come out, bit by bit. But that big one, who her family is, well, that came out in a big way in the beginning of Breath of Fire. I almost thought it was a dream, that things weren't going so badly, that it wasn't real. Thankfully, it all worked out!

That ending! They are well on the way to becoming the King and Queen of the continent, that she's the Harbinger, the Origin, and they are healing what has been broken for thousands of years. The big threat still left is her mom, and oh, yeah, she's pregnant. That was such an evil ending!

I absolutely loved reading these books, I devoured them, and I can't wait for Heart of Fire! So excited!
