Week 9 Review: Fatal Voyage

From Goodreads:
Investigating a plane crash in the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina, forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan discovers in a most disturbing way that the evidence doesn't add up. Tripping over a coyote-chewed leg at the crash scene, she performs a little mental arithmetic and realizes that this victim wasn't on the plane. Once again, Brennan's high-tech DMORT snaps into action faster than you can say "Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team."

My Review:
I loved reading this book! It's the first in the series that's set primarily in Carolina, which is where Tempe has her base, even though the first 3 books were set primarily in Montreal. So that was really great, and I loved seeing her with Pete, who was a really big part of her life for 20 years!

Oh, man, the injustice of slander against her just had me up in arms! That someone was threatened by her finding that arm, and doing a preliminary investigation and finding the house in the woods, and tries to wreck her reputation? Yeah, that was just awful! But it also made it much more easier for her to go full throttler into the investigation! Ha ha, take that!

This case was hard to investigate, between the plane crash and the slander and the leg being stolen. That there seemed to be an air of secrecy and fear and paranoia. So that was really great to read, and putting the pieces together and taking down the bad guys!

In the end, the explanation for the plane crash was pretty depressing. That a number of factors culminated in so many deaths, and it was totally an accident. And the fact that if the plane hadn't crashed, who knows if this cabal would've been caught just adds another layer of emotion!

This book was fantastic and I really can't wait to reread more!
