Week 14 Review: Cross Bones

From Goodreads:
The key to a modern murder lies in the sands of history.

Examining a badly decomposed corpse is de rigueur for forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. But puzzling damage on the body of a shooting victim, an Orthodox Jewish man, suggests this is no ordinary Montreal murder. When a stranger slips Tempe a photograph of a skeleton unearthed at an archaeological site, Tempe uncovers chilling ties between the dead man and secrets long buried in the dust of Israel. Traveling there with Detective Andrew Ryan, Tempe plunges into an international mystery as old as Jesus, and centered on the controversial discovery of Christ's tomb. Has a mastermind lured her into an elaborate hoax? If not, Tempe may be on the brink of rewriting two thousand years of history -- if she can survive the foes dead set on burying her.

My Review:
Yeah reading this book! And yeah reading it during my reading week including Easter Weekend! Though I did read it at the end of the week. This book was really intriguing with the facts at the beginning, because the history events and discoveries actually happened, so that was really interesting!

One thing that I'm seeing a clear pattern in this series, is one person or two who are really helpful to Tempe, from the science, a law enforcement officer or someone in her personal life. They're one offs, so far, these people who she knew previously to the series who pop up with history we don't really get, help, and then disappear, and so far, haven't been heard from again. Ah, well.

The idea that Jesus survived being crucified, and then lived on to old age and ending up in Masada, or that he hadn't resurrected after being crucified, both would shake Christianity. The former why this one complete skeleton was spirited out of the museum where it was languishing, and is the center of this book, yeah, pretty interesting! Poor Max, though! He kinda got lost in the shuffle!

There seemed to be 2 big things-the bodies discovered at Masada, and the tomb that might contain the "Jesus Family." That the two turned out to be slightly connected by a maternal relative, that was really cool! Even if that part was fiction.

Really enjoyed this book, and how mundane the reasons for the crimes turned out to be, compared to the epicness of the history of the first century!
