Oh, this book was just so great to read again! Apparently there's going to be news regarding it, which I hope will be that there's going to be a sequel, but it could be something else. I really enjoyed reading this book the first time, so I had to read it again, and it was just so good!
I love all the elements of this book. There's the historic in that there's kings and castles and no electricity. There's a scientist Queen, which is something new! There's the mystery of who killed the previous court, and the politics of the remaining members. And there's a slight bit of romance. It all comes together so well!
Freya is book smart. Not so much people smart, and she wasn't like the others so she didn't fit in, and after a while, didn't try to. I really enjoyed when she stood up to her council, including her dad, because she's right, she's the Queen, she's the ruler, not them. It was hard, but it was right.
The ending was very smart! Using all the discoveries that she had made, plus playing with the beliefs of the people, she played to her strengths and won. After figuring out who was behind the decimation of the court, those were two very big victories that she made. Loved it!
Yeah, I loved reading this book again, it was just so fantastic!
