Week 2 Reviews: Unbinding, Mind Magic, Dragon Spawn, Dragon Blood, The New Kid

From Goodreads:
In the newest Novel of the Lupi, the human and elven worlds are both about to come under attack…

After questing through the sidhe realms with her ex-hellhound lover, Nathan, Kai Tallman Michalski has finally returned home. But she knows Nathan will eventually be called back to serve his queen—and Kai will have to decide whether to enter her majesty's service as well. Sure, the job comes with great bennies, but there's one big downside: she would have to swear absolute fealty to the Queen of Winter.

For now, though, Kai is glad to be home, and glad that Nathan completed his mission for his queen with surprising ease. But what seemed to be a quick conclusion turns out to be anything but. The two of them helped thwart the sidhe god of chaos—and he is not happy about that. He's got plans for them. Plans, too, for the sidhe who killed him some three millennia ago. Nor has he abandoned his plans for Earth, as they learn when chaos begins bursting out all over...

From Goodreads:
FBI agent Lily Yu's mind is a dangerous place to be in the latest Novel of the Lupi…

Thanks to the mindspeech lessons she's receiving from the black dragon, Lily is temporarily benched from Unit Twelve—until her brain acclimates and the risk of total burnout passes. At least she has her new husband, lupi Rule Turner, to keep her occupied.

But when her mentor calls in a favor and sends Lily to a murder scene, she's suddenly back on active status—despite the hallucinations she can't keep at bay. With one touch, Lily knows the man was killed by magic, but her senses don't warn her how far the conspiracy goes…

A shadowy force within the government wants to take Unit Twelve down, and they don't mind killing to achieve their goal. With none of her usual resources, Lily is up against impossible odds–because with her mind in disarray, she can't trust anything she sees.

From Goodreads:
The New York Times bestselling author of Mind Magic returns as FBI agent Lily Yu gets some very bad news…

Lily learns she was right. Tom Weng—a powerful sorcerer allied with the Old One who keeps trying to take over the world—is still alive. But that's not the worst. Weng is a dragon spawn, the product of a botched hatching given a human form in an attempt to keep him from going mad. A failed attempt.

Meanwhile, Lily's husband Rule is facing a Challenge to the death. Then there's the possible reappearance of another sorcerer. But none of that matters when their enemy strikes out of nowhere in the worst way possible. Lily must face a nightmare and return to a place she never wanted to see again. The place where she died…

From Goodreads:
The battle against a vengeful goddess reaches a climactic point as Lily Yu must now face the ultimate challenge in a dangerous new realm—without her husband, Rule...

When a mission to rescue five children stolen by an Old One falls apart under the assault of a demon prince, Lily wakes up in a strange reality—and is immediately taken captive by the dragon spawn who rule there. Jumping worlds has fractured her party, and Cynna is her only companion.

Although the clock is ticking, time works differently, and Lily has miraculously gained a week. That means seven days to free herself, find Rule and the others, rescue the children, and make it home alive. All before the dragon spawn holding her hostage trade her to the Old One. It would almost be doable if this weren't Lóng Jia—also known as Dragonhome: the birthplace of dragons.

From Goodreads:
This free short story takes places in Rule's past, specifically January 10, 1976 during his Sophomore year of high school in a small town near Clanhome. It's a fun look into a time when Rule wasn't Lu Nuncio yet and was just learning how to integrate with humans.

My first review of Unbinding, Mind Magic, Dragon Spawn, Dragon Blood, The New Kid
My Review:
Wow, it was so great to read these books again, and back to back, at that! Because Dragon Spawn and Dragon Blood are very connected, and the weird timeline made it so great to read them together! Yeah, I made a great decision there!

Unbinding is the 2nd full length book in the series that isn't starring Lily and Rule. The first was Night Season with Cynthia and Cullen, and this time it was Kai and Nathan. It's kind of a part two to Ritual Magic, so it combined two different things that were kinda different in one book, and it was an awesome mix!

Mind Magic to Dragon Blood, we learn so, so, so much about dragons! Like why they're all male, and how they procreate. Their history. So many reveals that have a big part to play, because for one reason or another, that's why things are happening now! So intriguing!

That ending of Dragon Blood was so satisfying! It's the ending of a battle from the end of Dragon Spawn, and finish it out was fantastic! And then to have so many changes and that shocking end...I just really need more!

Loved reading these books, and I'm really excited for what's currently, as far as I know, called The Codex!!!!!
