Week 5 Review: Toxic Game

From Goodreads:
On a rescue mission in the heart of the Indonesian jungle, Dr. Draden Freeman and his GhostWalker team need to extract the wounded as quickly as possible—or risk spreading a deadly virus unleashed by a terrorist cell. When Draden gets infected, he forces his team to leave him behind. He won't risk exposing anyone else. He intends to find the ones responsible and go out in a blaze of glory....

Shylah Cosmos's mission is to track the virus and remain unseen. Her enhanced senses tell her that the gorgeous man eradicating the terrorists one by one is a GhostWalker—and his lethal precision takes her breath away. When he's hit by a lucky shot, she can't stop herself from stepping in, not knowing that by saving his life she's exposed herself to the virus.

There's no telling how much time Draden and Shylah have left. Racing to find a cure, they quickly realize that they've found their perfect partner just in time to lose everything. But even as the virus threatens to consume their bodies, they've never felt more alive.

My Review:
Oh, I enjoyed reading this book! This series is my favourite of Christine Feehan's, because it's the one that introduced me to her writing, and there's the most action in them, I think. The romance can get a little repetitive, but the action, nope!

So this book is pretty high stakes, that both Draden and Shylah are infected with the virus. Draden had a tough childhood and didn't really trust. Shylah was brought up by Whitney, which we know is really bad, but she came out of it with a sense of humor as well as a sense of self. Loved reading about them together!

That they're infected with a brutal virus and have limited time left if a cure isn't found, this book is both fast paced, and takes place during a relatively short period of time. And a lot happens, from taking out bad guys to giving blood to find a cure. Oh, and romance, but only the emotional stuff because Draden is a guy and wants to be protective and isn't the most communicative about it. Yeah.

Near the end we get a very big surprise. And you'll know it's coming because it's different from the rest of the book. It's one that's going to have a big impact on the world, I think, and I'm really excited to see how it's going to play out!

Loved reading this book, it was so fantastic, and I can't wait for the next one (and to find out who is going to star in it!)
