Week 8 Review: All Your Perfects

From Goodreads:
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Ends with Us—whose writing is "emotionally wrenching and utterly original" (Sara Shepard, New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars series)—delivers a tour de force novel about a troubled marriage and the one old forgotten promise that might be able to save it.

Quinn and Graham's perfect love is threatened by their imperfect marriage. The memories, mistakes, and secrets that they have built up over the years are now tearing them apart. The one thing that could save them might also be the very thing that pushes their marriage beyond the point of repair.

All Your Perfects is a profound novel about a damaged couple whose potential future hinges on promises made in the past. This is a heartbreaking page-turner that asks: Can a resounding love with a perfect beginning survive a lifetime between two imperfect people?

My Review:
I wasn't planning on reading this book, but I'm really glad that I did. I read the first chapter on accident in Verity, and yeah, it was so enticing, I mean, coming home to surprise your fiance only to find him cheating on you? And then falling in love with the guy who was dating the girl your now ex was sleeping with? Yeah. That's conflict!

I did enjoy the back and forth between the past and the present. I did enjoy the past more, because they were happier, they hadn't encountered the struggles that they would face. The struggles were real, and they didn't, they couldn't, communicate, and it lead to a lot of hurt feelings. Not fun!

The idea of writing a letter to your spouse on your wedding day, to open on your 25th anniversary, it's a pretty romantic and sweet idea. And it's also a practical one in that if they're close to getting a divorce before those 25 years are over, then it's a last ditch attempt to save the marriage by reminding themselves why they fell in love in the first place. Yeah.

I did tear up reading this book. Not because of the issue of infertility, nope. There's this one thought that Quinn has about how seeing people complain about what they have that you want, that it hurts. Well, I want a relationship, and she has a pretty great one with Graham. So that thought did cause me to tear up.

Really enjoyed this book, it was a really great read!
