Week 33 Review: Sisters of Shadow and Light

From Goodreads:
From the acclaimed author of Defy, Sara B. Larson, Sisters of Shadow and Lights is a timeless and fantastical tale of sisterly love and powerful magic

The night my sister was born, the stars died and were reborn in her eyes….

Zuhra and Inara have grown up in the Citadel of the Paladins, an abandoned fortress where legendary, magical warriors once lived before disappearing from the world—including their Paladin father the night Inara was born.

On that same night, a massive, magical hedge grew and imprisoned them within the citadel. Inara inherited their father's Paladin power; her eyes glow blue and she is able to make plants grow at unbelievable rates, but she has been trapped in her own mind because of a "roar" that drowns everything else out—leaving Zuhra virtually alone with their emotionally broken human mother.

For fifteen years they have lived, trapped in the citadel, with little contact from the outside world…until the day a stranger passes through the hedge, and everything changes.

My Review:
This book was a really fantastic book! I loved this story of these sisters who don't really know each other because one of them is only aware short periods of time, though they do have a great and close relationship. I really enjoyed reading about them in this really interesting world!

We do get to be in both sister's heads, but in the beginning, just Zuhra's, because Inara is stuck in her own head. After they figure out how quite the roar, we got to alternate between the sisters, which upped the tension because we'd switch between them right at that moment!

This world, yeah, it's pretty interesting with Paladins and the monsters that they fight. That the sisters were trapped in the fortress and weren't told much about the outside world, gave opportunity for when they were told that information, we were, too. And it didn't feel like info dumping, so that was great!

We learned a good deal during this book, and I can't wait to learn more! And with that ending that was just intense and amazing, I can't wait to see where things are going to go from here! Things aren't in the best spot, and I need more!

Yeah, really enjoyed this book, and I can't wait to see where things go in the sequel!
