Week 40 Review: Spellhacker

From Goodreads:
From the author of The Disasters, this genre-bending YA fantasy heist story is perfect for fans of Marie Lu and Amie Kaufman.

In Kyrkarta, magic—known as maz—was once a freely available natural resource. Then an earthquake released a magical plague, killing thousands and opening the door for a greedy corporation to make maz a commodity that's tightly controlled—and, of course, outrageously expensive.

Which is why Diz and her three best friends run a highly lucrative, highly illegal maz siphoning gig on the side. Their next job is supposed to be their last heist ever.

But when their plan turns up a powerful new strain of maz that (literally) blows up in their faces, they're driven to unravel a conspiracy at the very center of the spellplague—and possibly save the world.

No pressure.

My Review:
This book was a lot of fun to read! If her next book is fun to read as well, it'll be a part of M.K. England's writing, because The Disasters was hilarious, as well! I really enjoyed this world of maz, though I wish we knew more about the space stuff-like, is this set in the same world as The Disasters? I don't know, it's been too long since I last read that, and we weren't given any details about it!

This book was a few things. There's a heist (though they don't really spend too much time planning it, since they wanted it done in two days) to a run for their lives thriller, to a conspiracy, and yeah, it all came together in one great book!

The spellplague killed so many people. And it's why Diz and two of her best friends are orphans. And why maz is expensive and why her gang siphon it off. And how everything came together, yeah, sometimes the lengths people will go to, how much it doesn't surprise me, surprises me.

I just loved her relationship with her friends. They're more family then friends, and they go through a lot in this book! I loved her relationship with Remi, they were so cool, and while there were a lot of ups and downs, and emotional stresses, so great to read about!

Loved reading this book, it was a fantastic read! I can't wait to read more by M.K. England!
