Week 1 Review: The Murders of Molly Southbourne, The Survival of Molly Southbourne

From Goodreads:
The rule is simple: don't bleed.

For as long as Molly Southbourne can remember, she's been watching herself die. Whenever she bleeds, another molly is born, identical to her in every way and intent on her destruction.

Molly knows every way to kill herself, but she also knows that as long as she survives she'll be hunted. No matter how well she follows the rules, eventually the mollys will find her. Can Molly find a way to stop the tide of blood, or will she meet her end at the hand of a girl who looks just like her?

From Goodreads:
Tade Thompson returns to his "bloody exploration of of identity and self in a changed world" (Publishers Weekly) in The Survival of Molly Southbourne.

Who was Molly Southbourne? What did she leave behind?

A burnt-out basement. A name stained in blood. Bodies that remember murder, one of them left alive. A set of rules that no longer apply.

Molly Southbourne is alive. If she wants to survive, she'll need to run, hide, and be ready to fight. There are people who remember her, who know what she is and what she's done. Some want her alive, some want her dead, and all hold a piece to the puzzles in her head. Can Molly escape them, or will she confront the bloody history that made her?

My Review:
Wow, these stories were so great! The idea of a person bleeding, and then clones coming out from that, that's so interesting! And in Molly's case, that they're violent, well, just adds a bit of horror to the sci fi, and it was really enjoyable to read!

Together, these books were about 200 pages. Well, on my ereader, 170, but Goodreads says more. Anyways, between the lengths of these, and how entertaining they are, I just flew right through them, they were fantastic to read!

The first book is Molly Prime's story. We're being told her story while she's telling it to some shackled up person who doesn't know who they are. Well, they find out. It was pretty interesting to read, and that ending was pretty intense!

It also meant that we had a different narrator in Survival, with a molly narrating. I really enjoyed exploring what was going on more, we met some new people, and I wasn't expecting things to go that way! It was so great to read!

Loved these books, they were creative and awesome and so enjoyable!
