Week 12 Review: All Your Twisted Secrets

From Goodreads:
A thrilling debut, reminiscent of new fan favorites like One of Us Is Lying and the beloved classics by Agatha Christie, that will leave readers guessing until the explosive ending.

"Welcome to dinner, and again, congratulations on being selected. Now you must do the selecting."

What do the queen bee, star athlete, valedictorian, stoner, loner, and music geek all have in common? They were all invited to a scholarship dinner, only to discover it's a trap. Someone has locked them into a room with a bomb, a syringe filled with poison, and a note saying they have an hour to pick someone to kill...or else everyone dies.

Amber Prescott is determined to get her classmates and herself out of the room alive, but that might be easier said than done. No one knows how they're all connected or who would want them dead.

As they retrace the events over the past year that might have triggered their captor's ultimatum, it becomes clear that everyone is hiding something.

And with the clock ticking down, confusion turns into fear, and fear morphs into panic as they race to answer the biggest question: Who will they choose to die?

My Review:
This book was a pretty fantastic book! It did have its flaws, but it was enjoyable, and watching these teens figure out why they're trapped in a room with a bomb. They all have their social labels, and while there are some positive relationships between them, there's a lot of negative, and a lot comes out as this book goes on!

My main complaint about this book was the way it was written between the present with the hour countdown, and the past year or so, relating to whatever was going on in the present. It just messed with the pacing for me, that the hour wasn't as tense as it could've been. But the other options to tell the story don't seem right for this story. It's kinda a no win situation.

The past year has the answers to the question, why is this happening. Watching Amber make some poor choices for her future, and deal with all the popular people antics for a special opportunity, it just made me upset for her, because she was so focused, was working so hard, and was losing so much, and for what? Argh!

We're told who the bad guy is only shortly before it's revealed to the characters. I mean, just before that, it seemed like it might be heading that way, and it was confirmed pretty much right away. But it was still a shocking reveal, one that I enjoyed reading, because until near the end, I hadn't expected it!

I enjoyed this book, it was an entertaining and enjoyable read!
