Week 39 Review: A Stranger in Town

From Goodreads:
In #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong's next Rockton book, A Stranger in Town, the biggest mystery is the fate of the town itself.

Detective Casey Duncan has noticed fewer and fewer residents coming in to the hidden town of Rockton, and no extensions being granted. Her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, presumes it’s the natural flux of things, but Casey’s not so sure. Something bigger is happening in the small town they call home.

When an injured hiker stumbles from the woods, the sole survivor of a hostile attack, it's all hands on deck. Even a member of the elusive Rockton council comes in to help. This council member also comes bearing news: Rockton is being shut down due to the hostile situation.

Casey and Eric must now race to save the town that has allowed residents to have a fresh start, away from the mistakes of their past, while also getting to the bottom of this latest attack.

My Review:
Yeah, I devoured this book. I just love Kelley Armstrong's writing, and I really enjoy this series! It's just so much fun to read, I love reading about these mysteries that Casey and Eric have to solve! And I just love how smart and logical these characters are!

The synopsis is a bit misleading, at least the one above. The whole bit about the town getting shut down, well, Casey and Eric learn about it, but not until near the end of the book, and they're not really told it until they put together some of the clues, so it's more of a confirmation then an unexpected surprise.

There was another interesting mystery, of a wounded stranger coming out of the woods. I really enjoyed seeing where it went from there, there were quite a few surprises, and we did learn more about these characters!

We do pick up with the threads from the previous book, of the origins of the hostiles. And yeah, it was really interesting to see how they'd all come about. It also tied into another plot line, which was an interesting development! I really enjoyed how it ended, it was pretty heartwarming!

This was another amazing read in this series by an amazing author, and I can't wait to for more in this series!
