Week 44 Review: We Hunt the Flame

From Goodreads:
People lived because she killed. People died because he lived.

Zafira is the Hunter, disguising herself as a man when she braves the cursed forest of the Arz to feed her people. Nasir is the Prince of Death, assassinating those foolish enough to defy his autocratic father, the king. If Zafira was exposed as a girl, all of her achievements would be rejected; if Nasir displayed his compassion, his father would punish him in the most brutal of ways. Both Zafira and Nasir are legends in the kingdom of Arawiya—but neither wants to be.

War is brewing in Arawiya, and the Arz sweeps closer with each passing day, engulfing the land in shadow. When Zafira embarks on a quest to uncover a lost artifact that can restore magic to her suffering world and stop the Arz, Nasir is sent by the king on a similar mission: retrieve the artifact and kill the Hunter. But an ancient evil stirs as their journey unfolds—and the prize they seek may pose a threat greater than either can imagine. Set in a richly detailed world inspired by ancient Arabia, We Hunt the Flame is a gripping debut of discovery, conquering fear, and taking identity into your own hands.

My Review:
This book was such a fantastic read! I loved this world, it was so interesting to read about, and the characters were amazing as well! I just couldn't put it down! I mean the mirrored statements about people living and dying because they were there, I just had to read it!

This world and characters were just amazing. I loved how well Hafsah Faizal wrote them, they were detailed and intricate and introduced me to a world with influences from the real one that I don't see too often, and it was just so easy to read!

This book had multiple slow builds. For the plot to get going, and for the romance, which makes total sense, this is the first book in the series. And it'll be interesting in the 2nd book, with everything established, how quickly the plot will progress in that book. I can't wait to find out!

And that ending! Man, was it so excellent! And then we got that epilogue, and I just can't wait to see how that whole situation is going to play out, because it's going to do a lot in the story, or else why would it be there? I'm so excited to find out!

This was a fantastic book, I enjoyed reading it so much, and I need to read book 2 as soon as possible!
