Week 51 Review: Ninth House

From Goodreads:
The mesmerizing adult debut from #1 New York Times bestselling author Leigh Bardugo

Galaxy "Alex" Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale's freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she's thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world's most elite universities on a full ride. What's the catch, and why her?

Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale's secret societies. These eight windowless "tombs" are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywood's biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.

My Review:
This book was such a great read! I did try to read it last year after it came out, but for some reason, put it down in the middle of the first in the present chapter. So it was really great to get into this book, to find out what was going on, it was a fantastic read!

Alex doesn't fit into the world of Yale. She ran away from home, she was a drug user since she was young. But that's kind of why she's perfect for Lethe, the watchdog of Yale's secret societies. Because she can see ghosts, without even trying. Which is why she became a drug user, because of the ghosts.

So there's three big mysteries in this book. What happened that night in LA when she was the sole survivor of the night? What happened to Darlington between the Fall chapters that he was narrating, and the Winter ones that Alex is? And what is with the murder now in winter? Loved watching Alex investigate!

Wow, that ending! I wasn't expecting that! It was just so interesting, and unexpected, and I just want to know what's going to happen next! I want to learn more, and I want what Alex wants, and I can't wait to read the sequel to watch her work for it!

This was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to read more!
