Week 2 Review: Vengeful

From Goodreads:
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR

From the author of A Darker Shade of Magic comes Vengeful, the highly-anticipated sequel to V. E. Schwab's debut adult novel Vicious, a masterful tale of ambition, jealousy, and superpowers.

A super-powered battle of genius, cruelty, and the lengths one will go for vengeance—V. E. Schwab returns with the end to the Villains duology.

Magneto and Professor X. Superman and Lex Luthor. Victor Vale and Eli Ever.

Sydney Clarke once had Serena—beloved sister, betrayed enemy, powerful ally. But now she's alone, except for her thrice-dead dog, Dol. And then there's Victor, who thinks Sydney doesn't know about his most recent act of vengeance.

Victor himself is under the radar these days—being buried and re-animated can strike concern even if one has superhuman powers. But despite his own worries, his anger remains.

And Eli Ever still has yet to pay for the evil he has done.

My Review:
I loved reading this book! I loved being in this world again, with these characters and I enjoyed furthering their story! And it went in a few unexpected directions! And we did get a few new characters, and I'm interested to see where June will go from here!

This book is told similarly to Vicious, being all over the map with the timeline, counting down to some event, though this one wasn't as tightly counted down as the first book. And there were also sections like the first book, with the story focusing on the present with Victor and Sydney, or the past with Eli. And that was really great to read!

There was a lot going on in this book, with Eli wanted to get out and kill Victor. Victor dealing with having being brought back to life, but not quite right. Plus there's the new group who are containing E.O.'s, who are the ones holding Eli. Plus there's Marcella's story. Man, did she fit into this group for being pretty awful, though she wasn't as morally gray as the other characters.

That ending thought? There were just so many pieces to it, and I loved how it came together! Though I felt so bad for Sydney. And I'm interested to see where things go with both Victor and June, given where we left them!

I loved this book, and I'm really excited that we're getting at least 1 more book, it looks like!
