Week 2 Reviews: No Love Lost, Heat Stroke

From Goodreads:
A Weather Warden short story

From Goodreads:
APOCALYPTIC ATMOSPHERICS

In Rachel Caine's tempestuous follow-up to Ill Wind--forecast as "a fun read" by bestselling author Jim Butcher--the Wardens Association still protects the human race from extermination by climatic extremes, when they're not turning on their own....

Accused of murder, Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin was chased across the country--and killed--by a team charged with hunting down rogue Wardens.

Five days later, Joanne had a lovely funeral and was posthumously cleared of all charges. Her human life was over, but she had been reborn into Djinnhood. Now, until she masters her enhanced powers, Joanne must try to avoid being "claimed" by a human. But when a hazard that only a Djinn could sense infiltrates Earth's atmosphere, Joanne must somehow convince someone to do something about it--or the forecast will be deadly.

So who said being all-powerful was going to be easy?

My Review:
This was such a fantastic read! I loved how the end of the last book lead to this one, with Joanne dealing with the fact that she's now a Djinn, and learning her new powers. Which of course, means that she learns more about Djinn in general, and that was really fascinating! I loved learning more about this world!

This book was just slightly slowed down from the first time, because there's not the external clock ticking down from the demon possession. Sure, the situation is so very horrible, but it's not quite a countdown to her death? There was a bit tie to breathe, and to learn, which was really great!

Well, the bad guys in this, there's a range of spectrums for them. From the Djinn that betrayed her, middling bad guy, because of his reasons. For Kevin, wavering, because of his stepmother. And finally, the stepmother, Yvette, she was pure evil. She claimed David (and that was so awful to watch!) and she was a lackey of Bad Bob. Yeah.

But that ending, oh! To face off the consequences of their actions, that was amazing! And then to have that second part of the climax, I just wanted to scream! Because that's not a good situation. And I kinda want to knock some sense into Kevin-Lewis saved your life, and in return, you repay him by taking his powers, which is going to kill him? Seriously! That was an evil ending, and I need to read more!

Yeah, I really enjoyed reading this book, and I'm so excited to continue the series!
