Week 6 Reviews: A Deal With the Elf King, A Deal With the Elf King Bonus Scene

From Goodreads:
Perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and Uprooted, this stand-alone, fantasy romance about a human girl and her marriage to the Elf King is impossible to put down!

The elves come for two things: war and wives. In both cases, they come for death.

Three-thousand years ago, humans were hunted by powerful races with wild magic until the treaty was formed. Now, for centuries, the elves have taken a young woman from Luella's village to be their Human Queen.

To be chosen is seen as a mark of death by the townsfolk. A mark nineteen-year-old Luella is grateful to have escaped as a girl. Instead, she's dedicated her life to studying herbology and becoming the town's only healer.

That is, until the Elf King unexpectedly arrives... for her.

Everything Luella had thought she'd known about her life, and herself, was a lie. Taken to a land filled with wild magic, Luella is forced to be the new queen to a cold yet blisteringly handsome Elf King. Once there, she learns about a dying world that only she can save.

The magical land of Midscape pulls on one corner of her heart, her home and people tug on another... but what will truly break her is a passion she never wanted.

A Deal with the Elf King is a complete, stand-alone novel, inspired by the tales of Hades and Persephone, as well as Beauty and the Beast, with a "happily ever after" ending. It's perfect for fantasy romance fans looking for just the right amount of steam and their next slow-burn and swoon-worthy couple.

Not ready to say goodbye to Luelle and Eldas? Want a glimpse of the elves spring celebrations? A bit of marital bliss? A special bonus scene that takes place over a year after the end of the book. It will also give you a hint to what you can expect from A Dance With the Fae Rogue.

My Review
:
Yeah, it was so great to read this book and the bonus scene! I loved this world, loved getting to know these characters, and I wanted to watch their story unfold so much! And it looks like with each self-contained story, we'll learn more and more about this world, and I can't wait!

I really felt for everybody in this situation! Luelle didn't know that she was the Human Queen, her so called friend hid her powers. But the deal requires there to be a Human Queen, or else the Midscape basically dies. So she's needed, but she's torn from her life, and kinda despised because of how long it took for her to be found. It wasn't her fault, but she's the one paying for it.

There was so much to love about this book. The magic and the lore was fascinating! These characters and the idea of no longer needing a human queen, was just so interesting! And it was adorable to watch them fall in love!

I really enjoyed the bonus scene, because it gave us 2 things. It gave us more time with Luelle and Eldas after they've had time to settle into their lives, where they're at at this point. And it gave us a starting point for the second book, and I'm excited, because the Fae were not well thought of in this book by the Elves, so it'll be interesting to see things from the Fae perspective!

This was a great story, a great romance, and I can't wait for the next self-contained book in this series!
