Week 21 Reviews: Nil Remembered, Nil

My name is Scott Bracken, and this is my journal.

Scott Bracken has been home for 28 days, but nothing is the same. A month ago, he escaped from Nil, an island of wonder, beauty, and incredible danger. Now, back in his old life, no one believes Scott's story. To deal with his present, Scott must relive his past—whether he wants to or not.

Introduced to readers in Nil Unlocked, here, for the first time, is Scott's journal in its entirety. Delve deeper into the world of Nil—before Charley and Thad, before Skye and Rives—and discover the truth.

From Goodreads:
On the mysterious island of Nil, the rules are set. You have exactly 365 days to escape—or you die.

Seventeen-year-old Charley doesn't know the rules. She doesn't even know where she is. The last thing she remembers is blacking out, and when she wakes up, she's naked in an empty rock field.

Lost and alone, Charley finds no sign of other people until she meets Thad, the gorgeous leader of a clan of teenage refugees. Soon Charley learns that leaving the island is harder than she thought . . . and so is falling in love. With Thad's time running out, Charley realizes that she has to find a way to beat the clock, and quickly.

My Review:
I had a great time reading these books! This world of Nil was so interesting to read, and I just wanted to know what the heck was going on, and to know if these characters would survive! Well, there are two more books, and I need to know what's going to happen next!

Nil Remembered gave us a quick look at this world, and it was short and intriguing, and had me needing to read the first full length book. I loved the way that it was told, that we got Scott's journal entries, and it was a really great story!

And then we got Nil, and got Charley's story. We know a little bit more of what was going on then her, but not much. And honestly, things were pretty awful for these characters, that they had just a year to figure out a way off this island, while also trying to survive. Not good times! But not all terrible, what with her developing relationship with Thad.

The particulars were so interesting to read about. The society that these kids have made, the different threats that they face. As well what the way out is, and the developing theories as how Nil came about, and how getting out works, it was all so interesting to read! And I'm really excited to read more!

These were such great reads, and I can't wait to continue the series!
