Week 30 Review: A Conjuring of Light

From Goodreads:
Witness the fate of beloved heroes - and enemies.

THE BALANCE OF POWER HAS FINALLY TIPPED...
The precarious equilibrium among four Londons has reached its breaking point. Once brimming with the red vivacity of magic, darkness casts a shadow over the Maresh Empire, leaving a space for another London to rise.

WHO WILL CRUMBLE?
Kell - once assumed to be the last surviving Antari - begins to waver under the pressure of competing loyalties. And in the wake of tragedy, can Arnes survive?

WHO WILL RISE?
Lila Bard, once a commonplace - but never common - thief, has survived and flourished through a series of magical trials. But now she must learn to control the magic, before it bleeds her dry. Meanwhile, the disgraced Captain Alucard Emery of the Night Spire collects his crew, attempting a race against time to acquire the impossible.

WHO WILL TAKE CONTROL?
And an ancient enemy returns to claim a crown while a fallen hero tries to save a world in decay.

My Review:
Oh, this was such a great read! I've loved the rest of this series, and I was really excited to see how everything would go after the cliffhanger of book 2, and this one didn't disappoint! Things pick up pretty much right were they left off, and we were immedicably sprung into the action!

There was a lot going on with this book. First there's the panic from the cliffhanger ending, and dealing with all of that, with Rhy having been cut off from Kell's magic, that was the only thing keeping him alive. Oh, and the thing with Holland being possessed by the king from Black London?

And oh, the threat that the king poses! And what he does to London, that was just horrible. But we did see Rhy start to come into his own, and I really enjoyed watching him go on that journey. Plus there was the plan that his father made, that was something else!

There was a lot of pain and loss in this book. To having untrustworthy people within their shields, the stress of being within them, I wasn't expecting that! It's sad and bittersweet where it ended, but it was a fantastic journey along the way!

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait for more from V.E. Schwab!
