Week 40 Review: Total Eclipse

From Goodreads:
New York Times bestselling author of the Morganville Vampires novels

Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin, her husband, the djinn David, and the Earth herself have been poisoned by a substance that destroys the magic that keeps the world alive. The poison is destabilizing the entire balance of power, bestowing magic upon those who have never had it, and removing it from those who need it. It's just a matter of time before the delicate balance of nature explodes into chaos-and doom.

My Review:
Wow, I loved reading this book! With every book, the stakes and the tension have been getting higher and higher. And so have the powers. But the main plot of this book is the bait and switch, of Joanne and David being normal, and their powers out there in the world and they have no idea who has them. It was such a delight!

The stakes were so high in this book, Mother Earth is waking up, and she's not happy. So there were a ton of disasters, a lot of running away, not to mention dealing with their powerless state. I enjoyed how that story came to a close, though boy, did it hurt!

I enjoyed seeing things from Unbroken from Joanne's perspective, how she got away, though there was no mention of Pearl, and that was a little jarring. I am glad that we did have this brief intersection of the two series!

That ending was so excellent! It didn't come easy, and it wasn't without sacrifice, but oh, was it well worth it! I'm so glad that things worked out that way in the end, it could've gone much, much worse! And I loved that epilogue, seeing some of their lives after everything, I only wish we could've had more!

This was a fantastic end to a series that I just love now, and now I need to read more Rachel Caine books!
