Week 40 Review: XOXO

From Goodreads:
Cello prodigy Jenny has one goal: to get into a prestigious music conservatory. When she meets mysterious, handsome Jaewoo in her uncle's Los Angeles karaoke bar, it's clear he's the kind of boy who would uproot her careful plans. But in a moment of spontaneity, she allows him to pull her out of her comfort zone for one unforgettable night of adventure…before he disappears without a word.

Three months later, when Jenny and her mother arrive in South Korea to take care of her ailing grandmother, she's shocked to discover that Jaewoo is a student at the same elite arts academy where she's enrolled for the semester. And he's not just any student. He's a member of one of the biggest K-pop bands in the world—and he's strictly forbidden from dating.

When a relationship means throwing Jenny's life off the path she's spent years mapping out, she'll have to decide once and for all just how much she's willing to risk for love.

My Review:
This was such a cute and fun read! I loved Jenny and her relationship with Jaewoo, and watching them navigate the life that is a K-pop star, with the added bonus of his band members not being allowed to date. It was just such a comforting read, the stakes weren't life and death!

Jenny is a musician who is technically proficient, but she doesn't have a spark, something from her soul that gives her music emotion. On advice, she goes out and lives her life, meeting Jaewoo, and they have a wild night. And then he's gone, almost disappearing without a trace.

When she finds out who he is, well, it's a little crazy! But watching them deal with this situation, I felt so badly for them! What he's living, it's so many people's dreams, but he has to constantly work at it. He's made the first step in having the band, and their album being out, now he's in the game, and it's so much work and pressure. And that's a tough position to be in!

I do wish that we could've had a little bit more in that ending, because things worked out, and then we got a letter, and then it was over. I always want more of the happy ending, at least 2 chapters worth, because we've had the whole book to watch them get to this point, and I just want to see them enjoy it!

I had such a great time reading this book, and I can't wait to see what Axie Oh writes next!
